The Accounting Assistant I reports to the Chief Financial Offer and is responsible for accurately processing postal meter reports, cash receipts from offices outside Macedonia, issuing certificates of insurance, activity insurance, letters to troop leader changing bank accounts, filing, and other duties, maintains financial records for Girl Scouts of North East Ohio (GSNEO) and may provide support for other operational functions throughout the jurisdiction of GSNEO.

Major Accountabilities: Facilitates opening and closing troop bank accounts; manages correspondence regarding account status and follows up with troop leaders; works with team members to resolve issues; documents account status in Salesforce; prepares monthly departmental reports and electronically files in each budget owner’s SharePoint folder; processes Certificate of Liability Insurance and activity insurance requests received from volunteers and staff; posts cash receipts; receives the multi-account usage reports from each postal meter and prepares journal entry, reviews the fund summary and compares to usage; processes vendor credit applications; prepares confirmation letters and reports for year-end audit; works with others to assure that all departmental work is completed on a timely basis and upholds the council Customer Service policy and strives to ensure that all GSNEO customers receive superior service. Requirements: The right individual will have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and one year of full-time work experience; knowledge of basic accounting and clerical procedures and functions; be meticulous and detail oriented with problem solving and organizational skills; maintain confidentiality; ability to learn other software, such as Jotforms and SharePoint; work well as a part of a team; possess excellent customer service skills and committed to inclusiveness. Knowledge of the Girl Scout program preferred. Must successfully complete an annual criminal background and driver check. Must meet travel requirements which may include evening, weekend and overnight travel and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
