YOUR ROLE at NWHS:
As a Youth Development Specialist, you will collaboratively and compassionately work with homeless and street-oriented young adults, ages 18-24 years. Youth Development Specialists engage with and empower our clients through positive youth development, skills training, and collaborative problem solving. You will have opportunities to make a significant, positive impact by providing positive interventions, referrals to supportive services, and contributing input into service delivery planning and other program activities. Some additional duties pertaining to service documentation and compliance monitoring is expected.

WHAT TO EXPECT AS AN ON-CALL:
On-Call hours and shifts will vary depending on program needs. These positions are a great way to gain hands-on experience and create potential for continued growth.
As an On-Call staff, we will call you when coverage is needed for open shifts. Flexibility and availability are required, as shifts are often scheduled with less than 24 hours notice, and may include evening, overnight, and/or weekends, including holidays.
You will be scheduled for 1 – 3 shifts each month so you can stay connected to HOST, and keep your skills sharp and will be expected to attend regularly scheduled staff meetings so you can participate in program development discussions, receive training, and build relationships with your team. If a part-time or full-time position becomes available, you will receive priority to fill the vacancy.
SUMMARY OF BENEFITS:
- Minimum one year experience working with youth required; experience with at-risk youth preferred.
- Associate's degree in psychology, sociology, human development, education, criminal justice or related field is preferred. Exceptions will be taken into consideration if experience requirements have been met.
