Who we are?
Ethical Culture Fieldston School is a progressive PreK-12 independent school that has been serving students from throughout New York City and the surrounding suburbs since 1878. ECFS offers a rich curriculum in the arts, sciences, and humanities. A co-ed, nonsectarian school, it serves a diverse community of about 1,700 students on two campuses - one in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, and the other in Manhattan. Ethical Culture School, located on the Upper West Side at 63rd Street and Central Park West, is comprised of approximately 450 students Pre-K through 5th Grade and 80 faculty members.

We have an opening for a leave replacement 3rd Grade Science/Math Teacher for a 10 week period in the fall 2021. Approximately September 1, 2021 till November 19, 2021.
We are seeking a dynamic and creative educator capable of inspiring and motivating students. The successful candidate will teach science to our three third grade classes in addition to serving as a resource for classroom teachers in math instruction.
Plan a math and science program to our 3rd Grade students that is student-centered and promotes activity based learning
Work with other members of the math and science departments to ensure curricular goals are being met vertically throughout the grades
Meet and plan with classroom teachers and other specialists to integrate curriculum and promote STEAM initiatives
Model math lessons and co-teach with classroom teachers, using differentiated instructional strategies
Support classroom teachers with math planning and instruction
Facilitate individual math meetings with teachers to plan small group instruction
Communicate with parents regarding the math development of their child in addition to
delivering parent workshops
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
Minimum 4 years of classroom teaching experience in elementary school
Extensive knowledge of elementary science and math pedagogy and curriculum
Ability to collaborate, compromise and be flexible
Ability to listen and clearly communicate with strong talented teachers
