We are seeking an energetic and talented individual who can lead a diverse team of scientists and engineers pursuing advanced applications in artificial intelligence and autonomy to enable future combat capabilities to outmaneuver and out think the adversary. Our team is made up of professionals with a demonstrated expertise in aerospace engineering, control theory, machine learning, optimization / optimal control theory, stochastic optimal control and the general field of artificial intelligence
As the Principal Investigator for the DARPA Air Combat Evolution program
You will work with and lead a team advancing the science and applications of AI, Machine Learning and Advanced Autonomy to develop technical capabilities to revolutionize the art of air-to-air, strike and electronic warfare
You will serve as the technical lead coordinating the activities of APL in support of the DARPA ACE program and will interface directly with DARPA and APL program leadership
You will be responsible for coordinating the efforts and activities across a diverse set of DARPA performers including leading integration events, participating in test events, identifying risks across the program, developing mitigation strategies and ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned to the program goals
You will support innovative research and development of advanced AI and autonomy algorithms, novel reinforcement learning techniques and, along with your colleagues, publish your results to advance the collective knowledge in this fast growing, dynamic field of study.
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
Ph.D. in engineering, computer science, physics or mathematics or related field with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated expertise leading technical efforts related to autonomy, AI and machine learning, and optimal control theory
Demonstrated expertise developing simulation models using C/C /JAVA or other suitable software coding languages
Demonstrated strength in communication skills - both verbal and written.
Are able to travel within CONUS to U.S. Government and defense contractor’s sites as well as to the work locations of KVM staff.
Hold an active Secret security clearance and are able to obtain a Top Secret clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

Successful track record developing, proposing and successfully executing novel research in the application of AI/RL/ML
