Job Summary:
The OR Support Tech reports directly to the Patient Care Manager of Surgery, and is delegated assignments by the Patient Care Coordinator. The OR Support Tech is primarily involved in the support aspects of the Operating Room activities. OR Support Tech demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assist in the care of the patient in the room as directed by the Registered Nurse circulator and/or by the Patient Care Coordinator running the board for the day. The ideal candidate will have strong sense of urgency and accountability, with a notable pride in self and drive for excellence.

- Holds an extremity during a sterile prep, participates in the sterile prep.
- Takes specimens to the laboratory as directed by Patient Care Coordinator or Charge Nurse.
- Goes to the blood bank for blood products and delivers back to the OR suite/blood refrigerator and labeling appropriately.
- Keeps the scrub sinks stocked with masks and scrub brushes.
- Maintains cap and shoe covers in the designated locations.
- Collects and transports containers back to sterile supply.
- Keeps the ORs stocked with stretchers and beds for use post-op.
- Keeps linen stocked in every blanket warmer, linen cart, and cabinet.
- Keeps masks and hats stocked.
- Keeps sterile water and sterile normal saline dispensed and dated.
- Keeps hallways clear of clutter throughout the day.
- Makes lunch run for anesthesia as needed.
- Clean patient’s stretcher/bed.
- Places clean gown with snaps on patient stretcher/bed.
- Assists in room turnover including gathering and removing soiled trash, soiled linen, and biohazardous waste.
- Proactively seeks opportunities to enhance knowledge and learning towards expertise.
- Maintains all HealthStream assignments prior to the deadline
- Provides feedback to Surgery Patient Care Manager and Director of Surgical Services regarding patient care, budgetary, and strategic planning opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications:
Education/Skills
High school diploma or equivalent required. Preferred applicants will be pre-med, pre-nursing, pre- surgical tech, or pre-pharmacy.
Work Experience:
None required, but OR experience preferred.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
Additional Certification/Licensure - obtained based on the required timeframe below
- Basic Life Support (Within 30 Days of Employment Required)
