Bookkeeping and Administrative Associate

Hope through Education is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help underprivileged children reach their full potential by providing scholarships to attend quality, private and values-based schools.

We are seeking an organized, self-motivated bookkeeping and administrative associate to join our organization. In this position, you will manage a variety of financial and administrative tasks such as grant administration, financial administration, stewardship and board support. As you will be managing key office activities, a positive attitude and attention to detail are a must.

Duties and responsibilities include:

Financial Administration

Responsible for basic Accounts Payable (entering expenses and deposits/issuing payments), and producing reports for the Executive Director, Board and Committees as requested.

Grant Administration (workload is heavy from April – June)

Assist schools and grant applicants through the application and award process by acting as the first point of contact for questions and problem resolution. This will also include activities such as tracking missing application documents and information as well as producing reports for schools and funding organizations

Stewardship & Board and Committee Support

Support the board by producing and distributing Committee and Board minutes and coordinating donor activities (collect and enter contact and giving information into our Constituent Relationship Management System, produce acknowledgement letters and assist with appeal mailings).

Special Events

Assist with 3-4 annual fundraising events by assisting with mailings, acknowledgement letters, guest lists, and seating charts as well as working directly with the venue as needed. Events will require reporting for the Executive Director, Advancement Committee and funding organizations which is part of the event responsibilities.


  • High school diploma; associate’s or bachelor’s degree
  • Accounting experience required (experience with Quickbooks preferred)
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel); scheduling appointments/updating calendars a must
  • Prior experience handling administrative responsibilities
  • Highly organized multitasker who works well in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to learn and to grow with the organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $18,000.00 to $20,000.00 /year
