Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will be responsible for managing the daily accounting activities with a $44M operating budget. This position is responsible for the overall financial operations, the preparation of the monthly financial close and preparation of financial statements. The position is responsible for the supervision and ongoing departmental management of the financial operations staff.

Specifically, you will:
- Oversee the Accounts Payable department ensuring the timely and accurate processing of all invoices, monitoring of cash disbursements on a weekly basis,
- Maintain all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems; ensure compliance with best practices, regulatory requirements, and GAAP standards.
- Perform various accounting functions and oversight of monthly closing, GL analysis, journal entries, accounts receivable, and bank account reconciliations.
- Supervise and train accounting staff to ensure all month-end close deadlines are achieved.
- Oversee the annual financial audit, prepare work papers as necessary, including IRS 990 and the annual pension audit in accordance with statutory and audit compliance standards.
- Collaborate with the CFO in preparing the Consolidated Fiscal Report (CFR), the annual financial budget, and the development and implementation of new fiscal policies/procedures.
- Monitor and update the cash flow schedule on a weekly basis to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of cash inflows and expense outflows.
- Meet with Program Directors on a monthly basis to discuss their progress in maintaining budget outcomes and benchmarks.
- Coordinate and manage workflows with the outsourced accounting services team, ensuring that they meet their monthly closing requirements and assignments.
- Oversee patient account reconciliations and ensure that all petty cash is reconciled on a monthly basis for all residential locations.
We require:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA/MBA preferred
- Minimum Five (5) years' accounting/finance experience, preferably in non-profit accounting
- Experience working at a Non-Profit
- Supervisory experience
- Proficiency in Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPS
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of OPWDD reporting, Medicaid reimbursement and other governmental funding reporting preferred
- Knowledge of Blackbaud NXT/Financial Edge and Fund EZ preferred
