As the Engineering Group Manager located in the Transmission Design Operations organization, this individual leads or facilitates communication between engineering centers (North America, India, and Korea) while mentoring others and balancing the match of employee skills, interests, development plans, and workload demands.
Develops new products, processes, standards, or operational plans in support of the organizations business strategies with a direct impact on business unit's overall results
Convinces others within the organization that are skeptical or unwilling to accept new concepts, practices,and approaches with respect to NX, Teamcenter, and TcVis.
Advocates for process & software advancements via collaboration with peers within and external to General Motors (e.g. Detroit PLM Users Group)
Leads the transformation from traditional 2-D engineering drawings to implementation of 3-D PMI and 3-D tolerance analysis
Develops a process to handle administrative tasks related to: the team’s assignments and individual team member’s work/vacation schedules.
Provides technical support to designers (NX, Teamcenter, and TcVis issue resolution). Prioritizes and distributes work assignments to his/her team.
Participates in the hiring and developmental planning of employees (salary & contract)
Effectively communicates project status and recommendations to both the Program Execution Team (PET) and members of the Product Development Team (PDT) via regular meeting attendance.
Travels as required
Bachelors Degree required. Bachelors in Engineering, highly preferred
Knowledge of Automotive Propulsion & Vehicle System Architectures
In-depth knowledge of Geometric Dimension& Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5M 2009 Standards)
In-depth knowledge of Siemens-PLM Software (NX, TeamCenter, and TcVis)
10+ years’ experience in engineering or design (drawing, modeling, and layout construction)
Relevant auto, aerospace, or equipment manufacturing industry experience required via expertise in design projects related to: aluminum casting (sand or die), metal stamping, plastic injection molding, hydraulic controls, or packaging
and layout construction
Experience in working with a dispersed workforce across a global enterprise
Excellent written and oral communication skills related to C.A.D. processes

15+ years’ experience in engineering or design (drawing, modeling, and layout construction)

Demonstrated use of MS-Excel Visual Basic programming, Windows 7 or newer OS version
Demonstrated use of MS-SharePoint site construction/maintenance
Demonstrated evidence and interest in managing the work of others
Demonstrated evidence of maintaining an active role in a trade or user group organization (e.g. PLM World, SAE Congress)
