Position Summary Information
The Annual Giving Specialist is responsible for creating and implementing programs that support Guilford College’s Annual Fund under the direction of the Senior Director of Annual Giving. This position will primarily focus on the development of online and print communications with a secondary focus on the student Phonathon program and volunteer management. Responsibilities include development of online communications plan (inclusive of social media, email, and website content management), assisting the Senior Director with the direct mail program, recruiting development volunteers that will assist the entire Advancement division, and leading the Guilford College Phonathon program. Candidates for the position should demonstrate exceptional writing skills with the ability to craft an engaging message, exhibit strong interpersonal skills, and promote an environment that champions Guilford College’s core values.
Duties and Responsibilities
Create the Annual Funds online communications calendar.
Manage all Annual Funds social media accounts.
Design all online communication pieces, including email, social media posts, and website updates.
Oversee design, printing, and mailing of all internally created annual funds communication pieces, including solicitation and stewardship.
Plan and carry out two annual giving days.
Recruit and supervise Guilford College development volunteers that will help with logistical efforts of printing and mailing internal annual fund communication pieces.
Coordinate all aspects of the Phonathon program inclusive of recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and retention of student and alumni callers.
Work with the Office of Advancement Services to manage data, including list requests, list management, and statistical tracking.

- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1-3 years of experience in fundraising, nonprofit management, or marketing
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic, high-pressure, and constantly changing environment

Previous employment in a higher education advancement office
Experience with Raiser’s Edge software
Background in marketing or graphic design
Experience in leading a team of either volunteers or employees
