Overview of Responsibilities
As a Cashier at Manhattan Fruit Market, you are the face of the company while you process each customer’s order quickly, accurately and efficiently while ensuring complete customer satisfaction through prompt and friendly service. As a Cashier, Manhattan Fruit Market looks to you to accurately handle customer cash, credit/debit payments and change, and assist customers by providing information and resolving their complaints. Following all front end procedures, assisting with stocking shelves, facing and dusting as needed are all a part of the day for a Manhattan Fruit Market Cashier. A Cashier maintains knowledge of weekly ad items; gives customers direction of product location throughout the store, is familiar with events and seminars going on or coming up, and maintains excellent communication with Manager at all times. A Cashier is expected to ensure that checkout areas are properly maintained in a clean and orderly condition at all times, and execute all other related duties as assigned.

As a Head Cashier at Manhattan Fruit Market, you are responsible for the supervision of a team of cashiers, providing training, hiring, monitoring, and assistance with operational issues. This position is primarily mobile, proactively visiting registers, providing direction and support to Cashiers and Baggers, and ensuring excellent customer service. Typically, the Head Cashier is in the register to assist in potential customer assistance issues while maintaining visibility of the exit doors for security and loss prevention issues. The Head Cashier also assists in the selection of and the training of new cashiers as well as taking the necessary steps for disciplinary actions, which may include directly administering discipline, participating in disciplinary actions, or providing input to the Store Manager on required disciplinary actions. The Head Cashier is also responsible to assign store sweeps, monitor/maintain cash register supply levels, and also maintain cleanliness standards in our restrooms and our common spaces. The Head Cashier will also schedule and oversee the proper execution of appropriate meal and rest breaks pursuant to company policy and state requirements.
