OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
The Director of Market Access (National Accounts East) is responsible for increasing physician and patient access to Biodesix commercial products through deep payer penetration and superior account management. The Director of Market Access will work with the Market Access team to build market position and strategy by locating, developing, negotiating, closing and updating medical policy statements, contracts, and claims help with managed care organizations nationally.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Gain positive coverage policies for Biodesix tests
- Establish key relationships with leadership, key decision makers, and other administrators within targeted managed care plans
- Develop and lead compelling payer value proposition that communicates clinical, economic, and value-based attributes of Biodesix commercial products to key payers
- Work with field executives, medical affairs, and other internal partners to maximize pull through opportunities on all MCO agreements
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of payer customers and negotiate value-based propositions with HMO and PPO plans, FFS, Managed Medicaid, and Medicare Advantage plans
- Utilize account planning tools to develop focused account call plans for customer interactions and presentations
- Negotiate and execute contractual agreements with targeted managed care plans/accounts at national/regional/state levels
COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Comprehensive understanding of US healthcare system including providers, payers, and influencers, specifically as it relates to diagnostics
- Must have strong network of contacts within the payer space
- Strong communication and sales skills (thorough understanding and application of the complex sales model and strategy preferred)
- Strategy and decision analysis skills
- Personable, approachable, positive attitude
- Ability to present thorough clinical data and cost-effectiveness information to key decision makers in a compelling manner
- Ability to work independently and make decisions when needed
- Ability to work in a team atmosphere and communicate issues or successes with superiors
- Ability to travel nationally as needed for client meetings, conferences, and sales meetings as required
- Competency in Microsoft Office (SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
4-6 years previous experience in Managed Care/ Market Access, calling on major payers such as BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, United, etc.
Minimum of 7 years previous experience in clinical laboratory, healthcare services, or biotech industries (experience in Molecular Diagnostics Industry preferred)
Undergraduate degree required; M.B.A or other related Master's degrees preferred
