SUMMARY
The Volunteer Coordinator organizes, coordinates and manages the recruitment of volunteers. This position will establish a knowledgeable, dependable, and professional pool of volunteers and interns to assist with general Arizona Science Center (ASC) operations, special exhibitions and events. Manage all aspects of the volunteer and ASC relationship, including job development, recruitment, placement, scheduling, volunteer relations, evaluations, recognition, record-keeping, and assisting staff from all departments in providing and scheduling essential training.
The Volunteer Coordinator and Human Resources Coordinator will cross-train and work together as a team to support ASC volunteers and staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assesses ASC volunteer needs on an ongoing basis and develops a comprehensive plan which includes hiring volunteers which meet or exceed ASC standards for team members.
Creates and maintains volunteer materials including job descriptions, recruitment flyers, applications, placement confirmations, timekeeping records, orientation and training handouts, and volunteer identification items.
Develops, promotes, and maintains a wide range of volunteer opportunities within the organization.
Recruits, interviews, and places applicants for volunteer work and conduct or coordinate their training.
Reviews written reports and observes work activities of volunteers to evaluate performance.
Informs volunteers of ASC policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service.
Develops and oversees program budget and volunteer benefits.
Confers with volunteers to resolve grievances and promote cooperation and interest.
Organizes and participates in volunteer recognition programs.
Maintains accurate records and provides timely statistical and activity reports on volunteer participation.
Tracks and monitors volunteer parking voucher usage which includes reconciling the monthly parking invoice as well as educating/monitoring staff on proper procedure.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities other than oversight of the volunteers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Associate’s degree (A. A.) from two-year college or university; or a minimum of four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
