Contractor to provide a Pediatrician Physician to the Northern Navajo Medical Center throughout the duration of the contract period of performance.
Must have 3 years experience, ACLS, BLS, PALS.
Any State license.
Services expected to start November 1, 2024. The contract is 13 weeks to one year.
The contractor shall provide professional medical physician services in direct patient care services as follows:
A. Contractor shall provide service in the pediatric department in the delivery of patient care. Service shall be inspected, reviewed and monitored by the Primary Care Director or her designee.
B. Inpatient includes Pediatric Ward, Labor, Level 2 Nursery & Delivery/Post-partum ward.
C. The contractor will take night call approximately 2 to 4 times per month, depending on the needs of the department.
D. When in outpatient clinic, incumbent will evaluate and treat all patients placed in his/her exam room by staff. The last patient scheduled is at 3:40 PM, after which notes are to be completed before leaving for the day.
E. When assigned to inpatient wards, incumbent will at least daily evaluate, treat and document in medical record each inpatient on the pediatric service, including well newborns. Incumbent will admit and discharge these inpatients as medically appropriate. Incumbent will assist and provide consultation as requested to other specialists, the emergency room, the pediatric clinic, the labor and delivery suite, the urgent care clinic, and the inpatient pediatric and nursery nursing staff.
F. Within specialty area, assumes responsibility for the diagnosis, care and treatment of pediatric inpatients, ambulatory care patients and emergency cases in the capacity of a senior specialist or expert. Typical, but not all inclusive assignments including the following:
a. Interviews and examines pediatric patients, reviews past medical history and requests and/or performs diagnostic tests and examinations deemed necessary to obtain all possible information related to each case.
b. Makes preliminary diagnosis, directs, prescribes or provides treatment, or arranges for specialized ere of pediatric referral as required.
c. Bases decision upon information obtained, professional medical knowledge and skills and prescribed policies and procedures.
d. Makes notes of observations to be incorporated into clinical records.
e. Provide emergency care as required.
f. Provides definitive management in all medical categories for cases that do not require referral.
g. Gives total patient care including prevention, health maintenance,
early diagnosis, treatment and follow-up services to pediatric patients under his/her care.
h. Conducts pediatric outpatient clinics making observations appropriate to the outpatient's underlying disease and treatment plan, including current symptoms.
i. Reviews the patient's medications, diet, therapy course, adherence to management plan and patient observations.
j. Modifies regimen as indicated. Instructs and counsels patients as required.
k. Performs or assists other physicians in the performance of minor surgery/procedures.
I. Works as the ward physician as assigned, evaluates inpatients and nursery infants, daily, and taking care of admissions and discharge from these two units.
m. Attends high risk vaginal deliveries and all (-section deliveries. Provides neonatal resuscitation and stabilization as needed.
G. Contractor's provision of Pediatric Care shall be monitored by the Northern Navajo Medical Center's quality assurance plan.
H. Contractor shall have access to the internet to use the Electronic Health Record. All documentation on patients shall be completed prior to the contractor's shift is over. Delinquent charts shall be completed prior to the contractor completion of his/her contract at Northern Navajo Medical Center. If the delinquent chart is not completed the contract company shall assume the responsibility of returning the contractor to Northern Navajo Medical Center to complete any outstanding delinquent charts.
I. Contractor shall be subject to the provIsIons and shall be monitored by the Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC) Center's quality Assurance Plan.
5.1 Work Schedule:
5.1.1 The Supervisor at each IHS facility shall determine specific tour of duty. The contractor shall work 100% of the contracted hours.
a. Working Hours: Week day Shift Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
b. On weekends and federal holidays contractor is off duty unless "on-call"
c. When scheduled to work weekends:
Friday: pick up pager at 8AM and hold onto the pager until Monday 8AM Saturday shift would begin 8:00 a.m. to Sunday 8:00 a.m.
Sunday shift would begin 8:00 a.m. to Monday 8:00 a.m. Holiday shift would begin 8:00 a.m. to the next day 8:00 a.m.
d. When scheduled to work Callbacks and/or Carry of beeper/pager:
Monday through Thursday callback begins 5:00 p.m. to the next day 8:00 a.m.
Friday callback begins 8:00 a.m. to Saturday 8:00 a.m.
Saturday callback begins 8:00 a.m. to Sunday 8:00 a.m. Sunday callback begins 8:00 a.m. to Monday 8:00 a.m. Holiday callback begins 8:00 a.m. to the next day 8:00 a.m.
