Job Summary
The Research Scientist, R&D Formulation will carry out research and development project activities within the department from pre-formulation, product development, and successful fulfillment of products.
Essential Functions
- Provide scientific leadership for the development of various dosage forms such as modified release and immediate release oral solids and powder for suspensions.
- Assume responsibility as a project leader and provide assistance to junior level scientists in the design and development of drug products in the laboratory.
- Implement timely execution of projects starting with the selection of raw materials, packaging components, formulation strategy, scientific development and process scale up.
- Provide creative and scientific solutions to resolve problems while working with complex projects. Assist in document preparation for ANDA submission and utilize literature effectively.
- Write technical reports and project presentations, Work closely with analytical group and Regulatory Affairs to meet time lines, Co-ordinate inter-departmental activities, assess analytical data and supervise junior scientists to accomplish goals.

Education
- Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) in chemistry or other relevant Pharmaceutical Sciences - Required
- Master Degree (MS/MA) in chemistry or other relevant Pharmaceutical Sciences - Preferred
- Ph. D. in chemistry or other relevant Pharmaceutical Sciences - Preferred
Work Experience
- 8 years or more experience in the pharmaceutical development demonstrating the application of scientific principles (with Bachelor's Degree) - Required
- 6 years or more experience in the pharmaceutical development demonstrating the application of scientific principles (with Master's Degree) - Preferred
- Less than one year experience in the pharmaceutical development demonstrating the application of scientific principles (with Ph.D.) - Preferred

Specialized Knowledge
- In depth knowledge of pharmaceutical chemistry and understanding of pharmaceutics in developing complex dosage forms and drug delivery systems.
- Knowledge of colloids and its application in the topical dosage form and nasal drug delivery systems.
