The Community Colleges of Spokane is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Testing Assistant in the Student Services Division at Spokane Community College.
Under general supervision, this position supports the operations of the Spokane Community College (SCC) Testing Center including placement, certification, and other proctored testing. This position will schedule and administer tests, maintain records, prepare reports, address technical issues, and assist with the training and direction of part-time employees and work-study students. This position will compose written communications and documents and will provide students, staff, faculty, and the public with information about SCC's policies and activities. This position will open and close the Testing Center and work weekends and evenings as required.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for reception desk activities. Assist with and administer placement and other proctored tests, answer phones, respond to email, schedule tests, prepare and maintain testing stations and materials, explain test results, and provide information on SCC's activities and policies to students, staff, faculty, and the public. *
Resolve problems and respond to inquiries. Follow established procedures for reporting testing irregularities to the appropriate individuals. *
Assist with the training and direction of part-time employees and work-study students. *
Organize and maintain paper and electronic records and files. Assist with record keeping and data collection. *
Assist with evaluation and data entry of alternative placement measures based on score reports and high school transcripts. *
Work with multiple departments to facilitate the onboarding of new students. *
Assist in the creation and management of facilities work orders. *
Maintain public-facing communications including website, web calendar, and phone menus. *
Perform complex word and data processing tasks:
merging, sorting, integrating text and graphics, and performing basic statistical calculations and reporting. *
Assist with documentation of procedures and testing software technical requirements. *
Troubleshoot technical issues, test software on computers, coordinate with testing companies' technical support departments and SCC Information Technology to solve problems with testing software, and assist with coordinating technology upgrades. *
Monitor adherence to Testing Center procedures. *
Support and advance the CCS strategic plan and perform other duties as assigned. *

This position is designated a bargaining unit position and union membership is no longer a condition of employment.

Knowledge of administering assessments.
Requires working a flexible work schedule which may consist of evenings and Saturdays.
Skilled with spreadsheets, databases, word processing software, and basic computer troubleshooting.
Ability to pass proctor certification examinations.

PREFERRED COMPETENCIES (DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS)
Associates Degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
Experience managing and troubleshooting computerized testing platforms.
Two years of experience in a testing/assessment environment.
CONDITIONS/TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Total compensation is an estimate based upon adding the following amounts together:
Base compensation, plus
Current employer-paid health and related benefit contribution rates, plus
Median retirement fund contributions.
The actual total will vary depending upon each employee's enrollment choices.
Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Full-time schedule (12-month, 40-hours a week).
Position will work variable shifts.
6-month probationary period; may be extended up to 12 months.
This position is overtime eligible.
Criminal background check required.
