Warehouse Associate & Order Selector
Feeding Westchester (a Feeding America food bank member serving Westchester County) is searching for a new team member to join its Operations team. The Warehouse Associate & Order Selector will perform general distribution center duties and assist in the inventory and distribution of all incoming and outgoing products received and distributed from the facility. This includes the physical handling of product, rotation of stock, inspection of boxes and operation of material handling equipment. The Warehouse Associate will also assist in the maintenance of the distribution center as stipulated by safety and sanitation guidelines.
We are looking for someone who pays careful attention to detail and record keeping as well as an interest and the ability to interact with volunteers, the public, and other staff members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Product Selection: Responsible for accurately selecting and staging product orders for delivery, pick up, or distribution to member agencies; Keeping accurate daily records/receipts of orders selected and product received; Inspecting food items at each stage to ensure viability and safety; Assisting agencies picking up orders, helping load items when available, and completing necessary paperwork.
Inventory: Responsible for moving and replenishing inventory levels within pick locations; Assisting in monthly and year-end inventory, and participate in cycle counts daily; Inspecting, unloading, and recording incoming trucks as required; Assisting with product deliveries and pickups; Labeling all stock in accordance with inventory control procedures; Maintaining proper storage separation of food and non-food items; Ensuring consistent application of “first-in, first-out” rule; Ensuring proper stacking of all products, stock storage spaces, rearrange and restack products; Continuously checking inventory for expiration dates, any signs of contamination, or other signs of unsafe storage.
Equipment and Sanitation: Ensuring, through monitoring and reporting, all Feeding Westchester standards are met in accordance with standard operating procedures; Complete assignments and maintain the integrity of products through proper inspection, handling and storage procedures in accordance with Safe Food Handling guidelines; Maintain clean and orderly distribution center, assist in daily, weekly, monthly sanitation schedules, and other general duties; Use all equipment properly and carefully, ensuring safety, reporting all functional inadequacies to the Supervisor in a timely manner; Ensure equipment is properly put away in the designated places daily.
