Position Summary/Essential Duties: Performs secretarial and administrative duties to support the Department Chairman or VP and the department in its clinical, academic, and research activities. Main duties of the position include:
Demonstrates excellent communication skills.
Coordinates administrative and academic activities of Chairman or VP’s schedule efficiently and accurately.
Follows up on and reconciles clinical aspect of Chairman’s practice, where applicable.
Schedules office visits, surgical procedures and ancillary testing according to practice/organization guidelines, where applicable.
Facilitates department operations to ensure smooth flow.
Demonstrates effective management, develops staff and allocates resources effectively where applicable.
In lieu of Associate’s Degree, 5+ years of physician practice secretarial support will be considered
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience & Knowledge:
Minimum 3 years secretarial experience, preferably in health care setting.
One year experience in first level supervision and/or management position.
Ability to type 60 wpm
Experience with demonstrated problem solving ability
Special Skills & Equipment Knowledge:
Basic knowledge of office equipment
Basic PC/Wordprocessing skills in Windows environment
Excellent verbal & written communication skills
Experience in customer service environment
Excellent Organizational skills
