Responsible to assist department management with inventory management and maintaining flow of product in assigned categories to achieve total customer satisfaction. Work with management team to purchase products and/or merchandise from established vendors to be sold at Company retail locations and to independent customers.
High School Diploma (Required)
or GED required. College degree preferred.
Two years experience in procurement, merchandising, retail operations or related area.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
Maintain and monitor inventory levels, purchase items from assigned vendors and arrange for timely delivery in the most efficient manner based on the review and analysis of computer-generated reports, sales data and product demand projections.
Oversee inventory to maintain or achieve company standards for Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), fill rate, inventory levels and budget turns, and to improve sales, margins and inventory targets.
Identify aged and/or discount inventory and partner with internal business partners or vendors to remove from distribution center(s).
Determine promotional quantities for advertising projects based on analysis of trends and projections, and may negotiate with vendors on pricing, mark-downs, etc.
Prioritize delivery schedule to distribution centers and communicate schedules accordingly to ensure delivery of goods as scheduled; contact vendors to finalize purchase order transactions, expedite orders as required, resolve discrepancies and/or follow up as needed.
Assist with the return of incorrect deliveries/products and provide vendors with necessary information for credit/exchange as required.
Develop strong working relationships with cross-functional departments (i.e., Sales, Category Management, Distribution), vendors, etc. to ensure accurate inventory levels and timely delivery of products.
Maintain accurate buying documentation within the buying system, department records and files, etc.

Knowledge, Skills Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail, organization, multi-tasking, prioritization and analytical skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Working knowledge of procurement principles and skills. Experience with procurement system(s) strongly preferred.
