Robert Half Finance Accounting is working with an extremely interesting Research organization in the Cambridge area who are looking to hire a CFO/CAO. This position will be the No2 for the Business and will work closely with the Director. The organization is run by a professor and works with top tier people across different industries. Our client is looking for someone who sees this opportunity as a long term career who can help them as they continue to grow.

Major responsibilities:
~High level accounting - Managing all accounting and financials
~Handling fees for events
~Dealing with around $5-6M in donations
~Endowment which will be a few million for each organization
~Ensuring revenues are properly managed
~Helping them through growth.
~Overseeing a small team

The ideal candidate for this position can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. If you can lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services, this role might be right for you. Candidates who are creative team players with a talent for challenging the status quo, coming up with unique ideas, negotiating and influencing will be preferred for this position.

~8+ years at a Controller level or above

~Graduate of a top-tier college with work experience at a top-tier financial or professional services firm.

~Strong Cash management experience

~Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written, and listening)
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field, MBA or similar would be preferred!
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
