Mount Sinai seeks an Academic Hospitalist in Manhattan!
The Division of Hospital Medicine of the Mount Sinai Health System is recruiting for an Academic hospitalist to serve on the teaching service and provide care to hospitalized patients while supervising the training and education of the housestaff and medical students; engages in committee work and quality initiatives, helps to oversee NPP in services such as Observation unit, Surgical co-management services. May also provide direct care to admitted patients on Observation unit. This role is 90% clinical and 10% teaching.
As an outpatient medical provider for the perioperative services of the Mount Sinai Health System – specifically of the Pre-Surgical Testing unit of Mount Sinai Downtown – Union Square. In this role as an Attending Physician of Department of Medicine, you will demonstrate medical expertise in assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and therapeutic management of surgical patients to optimally address their known or potential medical conditions prior to surgery. You will collaborate closely with Surgeons and Anesthesiologists from Mount Sinai Health System to ensure a safe plan of care as a perioperative consultant. You will be expected to participate in the supervision, preceptorial and teaching functions for medical students, housestaff, and other allied health personnel (RN, NP, and PA’s). You will be responsible for timely completion of medical record responsibilities, as specified within the Rules and Regulations of the Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Staff. These duties may be modified from time to time by your Chair/Director based on Institutional needs.
You will also serve as a hospitalist on the medical service of Mount Sinai Beth Israel, providing day time coverage responsible for the care of patients admitted to the Department of Medicine through the Emergency Room, designated patients admitted to the medical wards, and other additional coverage as require. In your role as an Attending in the Division of Hospital Medicine, you will be expected to participate in the supervision, preceptorial and teaching functions for medical students, housestaff and fellows. In addition to providing direct patient care, your daily responsibilities will also include oversight/direct supervision of allied health personnel (Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, etc.), and timely completion of medical record responsibilities, as specified within the Rules and Regulations of the Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Staff.
In your role as an Outpatient Medical Provider for the Pre-Surgical testing unit, your specific responsibilities include:
1. Outpatient sessions at Pre-Surgical Testing unit of Mount Sinai Union Square.
2. Supervision of medical students, residents, as necessary.
3. Supervision of Pre-Surgical Testing Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants.
4. Supervision of Pre-Surgical Testing Registered Nurses, specifically for quality review of surgical charts screened at non-Mount Sinai Health System sites.
5. Reports to Medical Director of Pre-Surgical Testing directly to meet system wide targets of productivity, quality, and standards of medical practice.
