Position: Construction Cost Estimator/Construction Manager

PRA is seeking to hire individuals at the manager level on a full time basis for our growing New York City office. We are looking for bright, ambitious, self starters who share our beliefs in the importance of professional growth and talent development.

Ideal candidates are individuals, with estimating experiences from reputable construction management firms, who are interested in pursuing careers as cost consultants; Individuals with construction based knowledge who can add measurable value to the project delivery process in an environment rich with intellectual stimulation and loyalty towards clients.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The candidate will be working as a member of the PRA team as Estimator or Project Controls Manager providing construction estimating and costs analytics throughout the project delivery process.

He/She will be responsible to:

  • a) Deliver conceptual estimates based on feasibility studies and schematic designs
  • b) Customize construction management and other consultants RFP's
  • c) Review contractors’ proposals and make final recommendations
  • d) Support the construction activities, provide cost control, schedule monitoring and attend weekly project meetings
  • e) Provide benchmarking and cost analysis
  • f) Provide project costs management for all soft and hard costs. Track all budgeted, committed and anticipated final costs from inception to close-out
  • g) Prepare risk- based project progress reports and be able to concisely present to client
  • h) Help to improve processes referring to best practices and adapting to emerging trends and clients changing business environment

Minimum requirements:

The Candidate shall:

  • Possess a Bachelor Degree in engineering, construction management, architecture or equivalent experience. Graduate degree is a plus.
  • Have minimum full time work experience of 3 years working for contractors or cost managers
  • Demonstrate that he/she has undertaken various roles during their careers working for real estate developers, general contractors, construction managers, project management firms or owners.
  • The candidate shall have significant experience with interior alteration estimating in high rise buildings
  • Possess first hand understanding of the industry's supply chain down to the subcontractor's level
  • Be a true team player, adaptable and able to promptly recognize and prevent recurring and high impact project risks
  • Be intelligent, proactive problem solver and able to see the big picture by focusing on the client competing priorities
  • Be an effective leader, communicator, manage situations under pressure and deal with multiple issues at the same time
