NeighborScapes provides housing to people seeking to transform neighborhoods by participating in community change through our Innovation Houses program. Innovation Houses are repurposed vacant houses occupied by Community-Building Fellows (CBFs), and CBFs can be from any source, and they must commit to working 10+ hours per month in volunteer community or civic service. Currently, our Innovation Houses program redevelops vacant houses and gathers CBFs in service to the Englewood community. The Communications & Development Coordinator VISTA will report to the Executive Director. They will work to secure funding and sponsorships by creating a communication and development strategy to support NeighborScapes’ Innovation Houses program. They will support the executive director and the board president in developing fundraising plans, maintaining donor relationships and securing new ones, and advances NeighborScapes’ initiatives through actively seeking partners. Additionally, the Communications & Development Coordinator VISTA will work with our program coordinator to organize events and plans ways to increase brand awareness and funding. Successful development coordinators are proactive, self-motivated employees who perform well in a team setting. They consistently work to accomplish goals and increase their organization's resources. This position is a part of the Housing Action VISTA Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Member Duties :
1. Determine communications and development objectives and manage the development of communication and fundraising goals. 2. Research and identify prospective new donors and key stakeholders and proactively initiate sponsorship and funding. 3. Design and implement a Development Plan that incorporates a range of strategies including annual appeal campaigns, major donors, grants, corporate and individual appeals, and special events. 4. Design and implement a Communications Plan that incorporates a range of strategies including social media outreach, key messaging, and other media. 5. In collaboration with the ED, Write grant proposals and develop event opportunities. 6. Attend networking events to increase professional network, refine relationship management skills, and enhance NeighborScapes outreach and capacity. 7. Record donations on an ongoing basis in Salesforce and generate acknowledgments and thank you letters. Design and run reports with Salesforce.
