The HVAC Technician maintains, repairs, and ensures the proper and efficient operation of the facilities central plant and other mechanical systems including back-up generator, domestic hot water heaters, air-handlers, air distribution systems, hydronic piping, and computerized building management system. The technician will also help maintain the plumbing or any other structural, cosmetic, and miscellaneous maintenance needs of the facility as necessary.
High School Education and HVAC Journeyman or HVAC Master Tradesman plus an EPA Type I and II, or universal refrigerant recovery certification required. Must hold an R-410A Technician Certification or

An engineering degree from accredited college or university at minimum course work must cover HVAC/R theory, residential and commercial systems as well as digital controls plus an EPA Type I and II, or universal refrigerant recovery certification required. Must hold an R-410A Technician Certification. or
The applicant must demonstrate proficiency in field experience or U.S. Military occupation specialty equivalent plus an EPA Type I and II, or universal refrigerant recovery certification required. Must hold an R-410A Technician Certification.
Install, test, maintain and repair as necessary and directed - all central plant equipment, including: dual fuel boilers, high pressure centrifugal chillers, 40 to 100 hp pumps, power burner domestic hot water heaters, variable frequency drives, cooling towers, emergency generators, and all associated motors, controls, and wiring.
Install, test, maintain and repair as necessary and directed - facility air handling systems, including: variable volume air handlers, variable volume control boxes, multi-zone air handlers, fan coil units, exhaust systems and all associated duct work, distribution devices, motors, controls and wiring.
Install, test, maintain, and repair as necessary and directed - facility hydronics system, including: coils, flow control devices, pumps, and valves.
Install, test, maintain, repair and calibrate as necessary and directed – facility computerized building management system, including: central controller, distributed control devices, sensors, and actuators.
Install, test, maintain, and repair as necessary and directed – facility refrigeration systems, including: ice machines, kitchen refrigeration, apartment refrigerators & cottage refrigerators.
Works in coordination with the maintenance staff to perform preventive maintenance tasks on all systems (mentioned above) and maintain the preventive maintenance records.
Maintains spare parts inventory, recommends to Maintenance Manager needed parts and par levels, maintains special tools and equipment needed for performance of duties.
Assists Maintenance Manager in the development and implementation of the HVAC preventive maintenance program.
May be assigned to other building maintenance tasks and snow removal when needed.
May be required to drive company vehicles as necessary to pick up parts and supplies
Holiday, inclement weather and a flexible work schedule are required in facilities management to meet the needs of the job. Employees are required to be available for unforeseen circumstances and emergencies.
Makes recommendations to the Maintenance Manager on how to improve and enhance the operation and efficiency of plant.
Rotates on-call after-hours, weekend and holidays as needed.
Three to five years experience in plant operations and maintenance and the repair of a large central plant HVAC equipment.
Knowledge and experience in plumbing, HVAC, boilers, chillers, three-phase and single-phase electrical systems, air handling equipment, and direct digital control systems.
Able to lift up to 60 pounds and climb ladders and scaffolding
Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
