A Environmental Aide is an ancillary employee who, under the direct supervision of the Environmental Supervisor, performs manual housekeeping duties in an orderly and sanitary manner for the purpose of maintaining the Hospital facilities in a clean, sanitary, orderly and attractive condition, to provide a suitable environment for the care of patients, visitors and for the work of the Hospital staff.


Education / Experience: High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required. Ability to speak read and write basic English. Able to follow instructions. Previous experience in a housekeeping or custodial position preferred, but not required. Knowledge of computers preferred but not required.

Physical Demands: Position will primarily be light work requiring lifting up to 25 pounds with occasional lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Occasional bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling and reaching are required. Requires 100% standing or walking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken word is required.

Working Environment: May have occasional exposure to blood, body substances, infectious materials, chemical hazards, vibration, radiation, slippery surfaces, or noise that may result from performance of duties.
