We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the Vice President Graduate Medical Education position at Florida Hospital Medical Group (FMG).
At FHMG our primary customers are patients and families. Our partners are physicians and our team members are all employees of FHMG, Graduate Medical Education (GME), and Florida Hospital.

The Vice President Graduate Medical Education (GME) works in partnership with physicians, GME leadership and health system leaders to deliver growth and high-quality, high-valued patient care with responsibility for the strategic direction of the FHMG providers of designated service lines. Operational responsibilities include leading and directing the operational aspects of all assigned physician practices within their scope of responsibility. Uses leadership and personal influence to align and motivate staff and physicians’ energy towards goal achievement. Works collaboratively across the organization to champion creative and progressive goals. The primary responsibility is to ensure that excellent daily operations of each practice are present.
The VP will also ensure team members are effectively positioned for success; understand what success looks like; and are held accountable for their performance on the behavioral and operations standards.
Principle Duties and Job Responsibilities:
Serves as a liaison to Service Lines and external affiliates to maintain sound business relations with hospital business partners and influencers
Actively participates and supports FHMG’s governance model(s)
Responsible for all practice operations within designated service lines
Oversight and implementation of electronic medical records within practices
Participates with GME and hospital leadership to define and implement a GME and physician strategy for each program and campus
Implements contractual and process strategies to “link” specialist physicians with hospital service lines or institutes
Develops and monitors processes to ensure all practice startups are managed well
Oversees market, program and practice expansions
Manages practices to budget
Assists in development of strategic plans; ensures that approved strategic plans are in place
Ensures compliance with all GME teaching and program documentation requirements
Monitors compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations
Monitors facility policies and procedures and makes recommendations for development and revisions
Establishes and implements major goals, and objectives for each practice and market
Oversees practice budgets, billing, accounts payable and fixed asset management
Manages satisfaction programs for patients and employees
Uses sound judgment to make decisions in the best interest of the organization
Develops leadership skills in physicians within assigned practices and within the FHMG governance model
Provides input and support to specialty committees and leadership to ensure effective governance and positive, engaged physician relationships
VICE PRESIDENT EXPECTATIONS:
Ensures the development and implementation of a clear GME program development plan and physician practice strategy that engages GME Leadership, Chief Academic Officer, FHMG Leadership and Florida Hospital partners and physicians to achieve the results desired
Translates clinical/business model thinking into a deliverable executable plan
Works with the Chief Academic Officer to integrate outcomes measures to further enhance Graduate Education Programs
Engages physicians as leaders and partners in the development, implementation and assessment of comprehensive practice performance
VP is principally responsible for the FHMG physician relationship—including ongoing physician feedback on performance, strategy, contracting, mediating difficult issues and demonstrating integrity through responsive follow-up and engagement.
Principally responsible for execution and maintenance of employment agreements in a proactive manner
Collaborates and engages physicians on a patient centered care model in a deliberate way.
Delivers a track record of high performance in all elements, defined as:
Timeliness of physician contracts
Ability to seek engagement, support of physician contracts without requiring the presence of the CEO/CFO
Ability to meet and exceed budget targets for the practice at a minimum and manage to the top quartile performance for that practice
Ability to engage employees that results in high performance employee engagement (World class or best practice) and participation rates above 90 percent
Ensuring seamless integration of practice and programmatic elements
Working collaboratively with the Director of Accreditation standards
Ability to achieve meaningful use requirements, patient experience greater than 75th percentile
Ability to ensure practices are compliant with coding, monitoring, risk plans
Ability to achieve PQRS requirements for all practices
Holding self and team accountable for results
Responsible for the hiring, selection and performance of downline leadership team
Leads and develops leaders and team members capable of demonstrating a common mission and vision that aligns with FH values
Holds team accountable for their performance on the behavioral and operations standards.
Communicates effectively and in a timely manner to physicians, downline leaders the vision, mission, values and objectives of the organization and how this relates to each member of the team
Discerns and communicates appropriate information to peers and the executive team and engage in bringing forth recommendations for positive changes to FHMG overall and within his/her areas of responsibility.
Education, Experience, and Licensure:
Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university (master’s degree preferred)
A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in a large multi-specialty physician practice
Three (3) years of experience in Graduate Medical Education practice or program (preferred)
MGMA certification or other certification e.g., CMCO
Ongoing up to date knowledge on compliance issues
Demonstrated excellence in physician relationships
