Q.A Assistant Manager - full time

Develop the strategic vision of Upper Crust Bakery Quality Operations, ensuring food safety and quality of all products produced by effectively managing Quality Staff, Sanitation and Manufacturing processes.

Duties:

  • Responsible for ensuring specifications are defined and communicated, formalizing process capability, institutionalizing process control and predictive quality process
  • Full Sanitation responsibility
  • Maintains quality management systems in compliance with GMP’s, BRC’s and GFSI’s and provides guidance and adherence to quality policies
  • Integral part of plant leadership team
  • Provides support to Sales, R&D and Operations on customer issues, questions and concerns
  • Ensures the safety, quality and regulation of all products produced
  • Responsible for inspections of processes, employee training, compliance with applicable food laws and regulations and audits and verifies plant HACCP plans
  • Project management
  • Required hands on approach to production floor needs
  • Off shift and weekend work required
  • Generally 6 day work week environment

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a QA Manager, Plant Production Supervisor, QA Supervisor and/or Shift Supervisor preferably in a bakery environment
  • Thorough knowledge of food safety, GMPs and sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to write and administer customer-driven quality assurance and food safety programs
  • Solid mathematical skills
  • Strong PC skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Experience with SQF, AIB, Kosher and Siliker.
  • HACCP, SQF, and GFSI Certification desirable
  • 3+ years related experience

BS Degree in food science or related field

Job Purpose:

Develop the strategic vision of Upper Crust Bakery Quality Operations through Quality Technicians who share the passion for excellence, who understand that outstanding customer service is an absolute must, and who desire to maintain the strictest quality control standards within the food industry.

Duties:

  • Implementing and adhering to the QC program at the manufacturing site
  • Conducting quality control checks and recording the proper information
  • Verifying sanitation activities
  • Performs all duties in accordance with personnel and company policies, safety policies and procedures, and, any other established policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes working materials efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times.
  • Understands and comply with GMP, HACCP, and Food Safety procedures.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bakery production experience is a plus.
  • Must have a strong understanding of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Food Safety/HACCP
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Experience with SQF, AIB, Kosher and Siliker.
  • BS Degree in food science or related field preferred
