Position Title: Senior Manager Pre-Sales Engineering (EDS)
About the Group:
The Sales Engineering group owns and manages the technical relationship with the customer. Our group forms relationships within our customer base base at both the senior business and technical levels.
About the Role-You Will:
Manage a high performing team of Enterprise Pre-Sales Engineers.
Be responsible for all personnel related activities necessary to accomplish this goal, specifically: recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, measuring, escalation management and administrative management of all assigned resources.
Provide detailed technical knowledge of the Customer’s hardware & software environments, in a pre-sales context, in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment under minimal supervision
Provide Proof of Concept service to pre-sales customers and help clients with planning and implementation of their products
Maintain and expand working knowledge of current and beta products
Own and manage the technical relationship with the customer. Manage the technical portion of the sales process from prospecting -> demonstrating -> implementing the hands on evaluation / POC process -> leading technical portion of RFI/RFQs -> if needed, initiate and manage the SOW which is the fundamental technical interlock on joint projects -> support the pre-GA technical questions and issues -> support partner selling motion
Understand the customer’s technical road map, systems architecture, pain points, competitive options, and business drivers. Establish the role of trusted adviser with the customer. Identify solutions for Seagate and the partner ecosystem to provide value, and use these value points to influence the customer to secure qualification of Seagate products.
Provide product training and mentoring when required
Contribute to building the SE Readiness Program and develop Subject Matter Expertise in assigned products and solutions
Will travel regionally to deliver sales presentations to customers as well as marketing and user group events. Some international travel is required.
Channel feature requests to Product Management to enhance the client’s products
Participate in alliance projects including building vendor and customers relationships
Have a healthy and productive cross functional work relationship with Engineering, Product Management, Program Management, Operations, etc to ensure the success of the role & service to the Customer base
Drive an effective evaluation process and execute the process such that the ROI and satisfaction of the stakeholders is achieved: finance / ops / sales / mgt / customer
Strong quantitative analytical skills
Exceptional communication skills including listening, writing and public speaking
Solid multi-tasking and problem resolution abilities
Self-starter and Quick learner with desire to learn new tools and technologies
Strong verbal and written communication, customer service, account management and negotiation skills, with the ability to interface with a diverse set of clients
Coaching and mentoring skills are essential
Your Experience Includes:
Progressive Sales engineering leadership roles, including leading a direct sales organization with management of matrix resources of at least 15 employees. Experience selling high tech products (hardware, software, services) required
Deep experience and understanding of object storage, public & private cloud, data migration/orchestration, and end user solution selling
Exceptional Partner facing/listening skills and the ability to coach the same within the team.
Extensive experience building and developing a high performing team of leaders and sales professionals
Bachelor's degree and/or relevant experience
