Description
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) Information Technology Storage Infrastructure team is responsible for the design, procurement, deployment and operation of the Naval Reactors Program's enterprise hardware, software, and backup storage solutions.

The successful candidate will work in a technically diverse and dynamic environment with a team of engineers and administrators in all aspects of operating and managing the storage infrastructure supporting the Naval Reactors Program.

NNL has an immediate opening for an Advanced or Senior Systems Analyst to manage, maintain and integrate the storage and backup infrastructure duties on the NR Program's systems. The duties include but are not limited to:

Manage storage allocations for shared and user network drives.
Setup, monitor and perform troubleshooting for daily online and archived backups.
Monitor the health of NAS and SAN storage systems.
Maintain software and equipment inventories for maintenance contract renewals.
Produce documentation, including operating procedures, equipment configurations, and user guides.
Migration of data from old to new storage systems.
Participation in the planning, forecasting, budgeting, and procurement processes for storage systems.
Designs and develops enterprise-wide operating systems, specialized applications and COTS software.
Implements and enforces security policies and procedures.
Coordinate initial setup, installation, and decommissioning of storage systems.
Performs system analysis, storage allocation, and group administration as well as the selection and configuration of security controls, license managers, and other systems to enable users to share files and obtain access to networked software.
Designs, develops, and maintains programs and scripts, in accordance with software engineering policies, in the creation of automation tools and system utilities to simplify administrative tasks and/or improve ease of use of storage systems.
Interprets configuration management and release engineering procedures to ensure proper configurations and compliance are maintained.
Consults with vendors and provides technical assistance in resolving hardware and software issues.
Reviews publications and attends technical conferences to enhance knowledge of emerging methodologies and technologies.

Mentor and train less experienced members of the Storage Infrastructure team.

The successful candidate will have good leadership skills, interpersonal skills, the ability to work as a team member, and a strong desire to learn all aspects of storage management and technology. The candidate must also have or be able to obtain a DOE “Q” clearance.

Requirements

Advanced:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years relevant IT experience; or
Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years relevant IT experience

Senior:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years relevant IT experience; or
Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years relevant IT experience
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of NetApp and HP storage technologies (3-Par)
Knowledge of design and administering enterprise backup systems (Networker/CommVault)
Experience administering enterprise storage and backup solutions using industry standards and technology trends
Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, vbscript, etc.)
Experience in performance tuning and capacity planning
Strong technical writing skills
Demonstrated experience in managing a large storage and backup infrastructure
Demonstrated ability to work within a team structure
Demonstrated commitment to customer service
