Job Summary

The Cost Accountant is a new position created to support management in maintaining financial accuracy at the Company’s manufacturing division in Germantown. The position reports directly to the Vice President of Operations and indirectly to the Chief Financial Officer. The Cost Accountant will be immersed in the daily financial operations of the manufacturing plant, and will work closely alongside the VP of Operations to maintain profitability. The Cost Accountant will submit this financial information to the CFO.

The successful candidate will have proven technical accounting skills and strong problem solving abilities. The company is looking for a motivated individual who is interested in career growth within our organization.

Hours: 8am to 5pm plus overtime as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Calculate manufacturing overhead and labor rates once per year and maintain in ERP.
  • Perform cost analysis/studies on all jobs.
  • Coordinate and oversee the month end closing process working directly with the corporate accounting team to include WIP processing, inventory control and analysis, etc.
  • Generate monthly reports for CFO including Income Statement, Cost of Goods Sold, etc.
  • Compose and process the weekly Accounts Payable check run.
  • Support daily processing of customer and vendor invoices and issue customer credit memos.
  • Process daily cash receipts and analyze Accounts Receivable to maintain zero invoices over 90 days.
  • Perform follow up calls with customers to inquire about late payments, short payments, or discounts.

Skills, Abilities & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from four year college or university is required, major in Accounting is preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of general accounting principles.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy is critical.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Skilled in MS Office products including Excel, Word, Outlook required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor with ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Desire to work independently.
