Reporting to the Director of Business Applications, the Manager Engineering and QA Systems, will be responsible for implementing and supporting the business applications that are used by our Engineering and QA organization worldwide. This includes applications like PTC Windchill PDMLink (Product data & document management), Clarizen (Project management), Creo (Mechanical CAD), Altium (Electrical CAD), CAE software, JIRA (Bug tracking), Confluence (Wiki), Jenkins (Continuous integration), Subversion & Gitlab (Version control). The position will be located at our Worldwide Headquarters in Vista, CA.
Lead a small team and manage all Engineering and QA applications used globally based on best practices in IT service management, which includes:
Monitoring system performance.
Operation and maintenance of applications (e.g. patch installation, Backup & DR procedures).
Planning and executing application updates and upgrades.
Incident management and user support via help desk.
Stakeholder management (key users, application owners, administrators).
End user training.
User and license management (including external users from development partners).
Budget planning, TCO management.
Vendor and contract management.
Project management of both regional and global IT projects (e.g. deployment of new solutions, integration of existing applications following mergers and acquisitions, phasing out applications).
Balance functional requirements and business demand, while ensuring timely delivery and managing budget constraints.
Act as internal IT consultant for the Engineering and QA organization helping them to improve the engineering business processes, understanding & solving their needs and translating these into IT solutions.
Close cooperation with the other IT departments.
Provide subject matter expertise to the three regions (North America, Europe and APAC).
Adhere to corporate IT standards and methodologies.
Masters or bachelor’s degree in a relevant area (e.g. Computer Science, Business, Engineering).
+5 years working experience with relevant applications related to software or hardware engineering or QA (e.g. Windchill PDMLink, Creo, Altium, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, Subversion, Gitlab) ideally in the field of consumer electronics.
Good understanding of Engineering and QA related business processes (product development and software development).
Experience with IT application management based on ITIL principles.
Experience with IT tools and technologies (e.g. AWS, XaaS, Single Sign-On, Linux & Windows servers, virtual machines).
Strong IT Project Management skills and experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good presentation skills.
Ability to explain complex technical matters clearly to business users.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability, willingness and flexibility to work in a multicultural environment across different time zones.
Willingness to travel when required.
Fluent in English and Japanese.
Drive, motivation and goal-oriented mindset.
Preferred Skill Sets:
Certifications in Prince2 or PMP.
Certifications in one of the above-mentioned applications.
To be successful in this job you need to be able to handle multiple projects and initiatives in parallel, while also performing application support tasks. You need to be able to work independently, while cooperating closely with different team members from different disciplines and countries. You will the go to person for building the bridge between the business and IT in the areas of Engineering and QA.
