We are looking for talented embedded software engineers with experience in or a desire to develop embedded systems in the medical domain in our Boston, MA office.

As a principal software engineer, you will lead the software development and implementation of the next generation of medical devices. Examples of devices we develop include next generation implants case study: wireless charging implants, energy efficient wireless enabled drug delivery systems case study: Kicopen- connected insulin device, and cutting edge diagnostic platforms case study: molecular diagnostics.

You will have a desire to develop your skills beyond software and take a leadership role working with our clients to define the scope of projects as well as leading software teams.


You will be involved in projects from definition through to verification and validation, and be responsible for the developing and implementing medical-grade software that meets the product requirements. Creative thinking and top-notch technical solutions are needed to address the challenges of the projects that we do.

At the front end of projects, you will collaborate with business developers to demonstrate our capabilities and technical solutions to clients, providing input to development programs and project proposals.

In the delivery phase, you will help clients identify needs and translate these into well-defined requirements, as well as work with system and hardware leads in defining software architecture. You will use your experience in embedded software development to contribute to risk assessment activities, propose and implement software mitigations.

Typical activities include:

  • Requirements capture and management (DOORS NG)
  • Architecture definition (Enterprise Architect).
  • Contributing to: Detailed design, Implementation, Verification (unit testing, integration testing, system testing), Code reviews, and Risk management.
  • Collaborating with industrial designers and human factors engineers to implement the user interface.
  • Working with Project Managers to plan approaches to projects, monitor status, and identify development issues.



  • 6+ years of software development experience with bare metal and/or embedded RTOS systems.
  • 4-year Bachelor of Computer Science, Software Engineer or equivalent degree.
  • Strong C programming skills.
  • Experience with development on embedded platforms (for example MSP430, ARM Cortex A/M, x86/64, STM32).
  • Proficient with various communication protocols (examples include UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, or TCP/IP).
  • Skilled at developing applications on a variety of levels including bare metal systems, RTOS and embedded OS (examples include ThreadX, QNX, and embedded Linux).


  • Experience in wireless technologies (for example: Bluetooth/BLE, Wi-Fi, NFC or LTE).
  • Kernel driver development.
  • Board Support Package development.
  • Implementation on resource constrained systems (for example small footprint, low-power embedded platforms).
  • User interfaces implementation including capacitive touch, graphics/windowing SDKs, fonts, haptic interfaces, and internationalization and localization.
  • Sensing and signal processing applications including data acquisition, conditioning, and filtering.
  • Control and algorithm integration and optimization.
