Nova Asian Kitchen & Bar is an owner inspired, Gensler designed Asian fusion concept, that creatively celebrates the 5 elements of Feng Shui, (Water, Fire, Earth, Wood, Metal) paying culinary tribute to multiple regions of Asia, utilizing modern interpretations of traditional Asian cuisines. Featuring an outdoor patio, with latest collections of Sakes, Wines, Spirits, and hand crafted local beers. Areas of direct responsibility include the 300 plus seats Nova Restaurant (includes indoor & outdoor patio seating), providing Catering & Convention Events Services for up to 500 guests.

We are looking for an experienced Wok Cook / Line Cook to join Nova Asian Kitchen & Bar, the OC’s newest upscale dining experience will open in June 2019.

Prepare delicious meals according to menu and cook dishes that will delight our customers with their taste and timely delivery.

An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals. Must be deft in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is also important.

The goal is to help preserve and enhance our reputation so we can expand our clientele. Provide high quality and professional environment that will strive to exceed guest expectations and is in line with company standards & goals.

Prior experience in trendy like concepts, including Katsuya, Nobu, Anqi, Buddakan, Crustation, etc. are preferred.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
  • Cook food in various utensils or grillers
  • Check food while cooking to stir or turn
  • Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
  • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Check quality of ingredients
  • Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages


  • Proven experience as cook
  • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Very good communication skills
  • Excellent physical condition and stamina
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage

Job Duties:

  • Operate standard kitchen equipment safety and efficiently
  • Follow recipes and presentation specifications
  • Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
  • Clean and maintain station in practicing good safety and sanitation
  • Assist with the cleaning and organization of kitchen and equipment
  • Restock items as needed throughout the shift
  • Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes
