Administrative Office Position
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
FLSA Status: Exempt
The Controller at VAP is responsible for directing the company’s financial planning and accounting practices, as well as its relationship with lending institutions, shareholders, and the financial community.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provides information requested by the CEO;
Responsible for all the daily sales activities of the company and insures all transactions are posted, balanced, and accounted for;
Manages the cash and insures all cash is accounted for and balanced daily;
Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape;
Help develop and support short and long-term operational strategies;
Supervises all accounting duties, related activities, and procedures to include accounts payable, accounts receivables, general ledger, payroll, inventory, capital expenditures, etc. Insures that all subsidiary accounts are balanced to the general ledger. Insures that all related source documents (invoices, sales receipts, deposits, invoices, etc.) are accounted for and properly filed;
Insures that all tax liabilities that have been incurred by the company are properly reported and filed within the guidelines and reporting periods of each government agency;
Prepares accurate and timely financial statements recording all the necessary payables, receivables, and any other accruals;
Assists management and management staff in the analysis of the financial statements including the monitoring and performance of each profit center. Analyzes performance to budget, to last year and prior years to help in developing trend analysis. Reports any market conditions or other circumstances that influenced the financial performance of the company;
Assists management in preparing pro-formas on potential opportunities that the company may be considering;
Assists management in compiling and preparing budget statements for all company profit centers;
Monitors, audits, and reconciles all balance sheet accounts. Records all transactions to the capital accounts as directed by the board of directors;
Insures that all the necessary internal controls are in place, monitored, and functioning;
Possess the adequate computer skills to perform the necessary duties of the CFO.
Provides the necessary training, guidance and professional experience to the accounting and management staff;

The Controller position is primarily performed indoors in the administrative offices of VAP. These job tasks are sedentary and completed at the computer therefore the employee would need to be able to sit for extended periods of time and use their hands and fingers to handle and feel the keyboard keys and mouse. The employee is required to talk and hear to perform this job. Occasionally, the employee will be required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The noise level in the office is usually low to moderate. Employees in the administrative offices work closely in the office and must be able to cooperate and communicate well with one another. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The Controller will be evaluated against performance factors including quality of performance, productivity, customer service, and more. The employee performs quality work that is accurate and completed in a timely manner and meets set deadlines. The employee is dependable and trustworthy with confidential company information.
Continuing Education Requirements
The Controller must annually review any changes to insurance, labor, or tax laws that will affect the business practices at VAP. The employee must attend training as directed by VAP, including any after-hours training. The employee is expected to stay up to date on changing regulations, laws, and best practices as part of their normal duties.
