Trexin Consulting is looking for a qualified FHIR Architect to build, maintain, and support interfaces and the integration infrastructure for our healthcare client in Chicago, IL. The Consultant will develop interface solutions for processing data formatted in a variety of industry standards. Ensuring data reliability and security, the Developer will monitor production interfaces and resolve errors using best practices and approved processes.

The FHIR Architect will assist with the design and development of custom solutions and integration tools, will assist in scoping and workflow discussions from a technical perspective, and will own internal and customer-facing deliverables requiring technical input or development.

In addition, the Architect will follow established project plans to construct technical architecture artifacts and provide ongoing guidance and leadership to the development team.

Additional duties include:

  • Architect and support HIE data interface solutions design leveraging HL7, FHIR, IHE, and other similar technical stack.
  • Design HIE interfaces and enhancements using Java, JSON, SQL, and others.
  • Conceptualize and design integration solutions to meet business requirements and goals.
  • Ongoing technical support / guidance to development team
  • Work with development teams to ensure integration strategies are known, understood, and followed.
  • Ensure the coherent interpretation of business processes affected by integration efforts and resulting interfaces.
  • Create efficiencies in interface development and deployment processes.
  • Maintain an understanding of the HIE as well as those applications with which it interfaces.
  • Communicate priorities, monitor and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Provide regular status and other reports to management as required.
  • Maintain compliance with Trexin clients’ corporate standards and continual process improvement efforts.
  • Comply with HIPAA and other state and federal regulations.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required to fulfill job function or as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health care and/or information technology.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in health information interface development.
  • Experience designing and building HIE modules and enhancements using Java, JSON, SQL, and others.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience with Apache NIFI
  • Experience HAPI FHIR API to create mapping methods and transforming resource bundle
  • Experience with data integration work with MuleSoft
  • Proven ability to develop, configure, deploy and support HIE interface solutions including HL7, FHIR, C-CDA, IHE and other healthcare related standards.
  • Knowledge of data exchange protocols relative to the healthcare industry and NIST specifications.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, analyzing, and resolving system and interface issues.
  • Experience using Agile methodologies.
  • Understanding of SSL, HTTPS, and security.
  • Ability to write concise technical documentation.
  • Ability to transform requirements into technical specifications and implementation plans.
  • Understanding of database structures, tables and querying functions.
  • Must be a team player and a consistent, dependable performer with an excellent work ethic, flexible "can-do" attitude, and a results-driven commitment to success.
  • Ability to work independently and manage work to a defined schedule.
