More than 500 board-certified physicians, 200+ Advanced Practice Providers, and 1,500 clinical and support staff in over 40 specialties provide patients with a broad range of medical and surgical services. New Patient Coordinator
The New Patient Coordinator is the initial contact for each new patient and ensures that they are well prepared for their first visit by making certain patients are being seen by the appropriate physician and that patients arrive for their appointment with all pertinent information to ensure optimal care coordination (medical records, test results, referrals, copays). In addition, patients will be provided information on directions, parking and building navigation. The New Patient Coordinator is also tasked with communicating with referring practices to establish efficient processes and obtain feedback on patient experiences.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Completes registration and obtains insurance authorization for new patients
Ensures financial information/copy of insurance card is forwarded to Billing Dept.
Obtains pertinent medical records before date of appointment for new patients
Works closely with nursing and medical staff to facilitate optimal patient care
Schedules physician appointments for new patients
Coordinates with other departments as needed to facilitate patient visits
Provides each new patient with the appropriate administrative guide
Provides patient with referral information for other physicians/facilities
Establishes positive, professional communication and relationships with referring practices
Proactively looks for opportunities to increase referrals to the practice
Responds to incoming referrals the same day and schedules all new patients within the required number of business days per practice/company policy/procedure
Floats to other FHMG practices, within reason, when patient load, vacation schedules etc. make it necessary
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Demonstrates ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements
Experience with computers
Proficiency in medical terminology

Associate’s Degree OR 1 year of medical office experience
