Section Administrator

Reporting to Section Chair and Sr. Director of Business Operations at the College of Dental Medicine (CDM), Section Administrator will have financial and administrative management responsibilities.
Oversee the financial and administrative management of the Section of Oral, Diagnostic and Rehabilitation Sciences, including four divisions and three postgraduate programs and associated patient care activities within the Section. Manage revenue and expense budgets for all non-sponsored accounts, including central funds and gifts and endowments, in accordance with the CDM/CUMC/University policies. Manage purchasing and accounts payable functions for all non-sponsored activities within the Section. Reconcile accounts, perform financial analysis, prepare and present financial and managerial reports.
Coordinate human resources functions including working with CDM Faculty Affairs and CDM-HR on faculty and student appointments, annual faculty renewal letters, staff support, and orientation support to new hires.
Provide administrative support to postgraduate education programs, including meeting schedules, admissions process and reporting; assist with launching and running new educational programs, and oversee section activities related to PG programs accreditation. Will work closely with the PG Student and Curricular Affairs office.
Provide supplemental support to the PIs and the Grants Management Office on Section research activities
Assist the Section chair with meeting schedules and travel reservations. Develop correspondence, take minutes, prepare reports and annual newsletters; transcribe and proofread text and publications. Communicate with faculty, students, business vendors, and other entities external to the University; assist with updating information on the CDM website as needed. Maintain Section files.
Manage maintenance issues related to Section space.
Work collaboratively with other CDM units including the Business Office, Clinic Operations, the Grants Management Office and the Committee on Appointments and Promotions.
Perform other administrative and financial duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications for Grade
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant

Bachelor's degree and at least four years of relevant financial and administrative experience in an academic medical center of higher education required.

Experience in education administration, research and compliance requirements in healthcare required. Must have strong computer skills including advanced knowledge of Excel with an emphasis on developing complex spreadsheets. Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal, organization, problem solving and detail-oriented skill required.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in business administration, healthcare administration or public administration is desirable. Knowledge of Columbia University systems (Rascal, Info-Ed, and ARC) is preferred.
