The Seattle Division has an opening for an Organized Retail Crime Specialist in the Asset Protection Department. This position will support stores in Western Washington.
The Asset Protection Organized Retail Crime Specialist is responsible for applying expertise to assist the ORC Manager in executing a strategy to combat Organized Retail Crime and external theft across all Albertsons Companies stores within the Seattle Division. The ORC Specialist takes a proactive approach to resolving external losses within all assigned stores through training and awareness. They are responsible for assisting with external investigations, awareness training, and other specific projects within the assigned market, and working closely with all levels of management and associates to identify potential sources of high level external theft. The ORC Specialist will create and maintain partnerships with all business partners, internal and external, including but not limited to local-State-Federal Law Enforcement, District Attorneys, and peer retailers. Responsible for ensuring external theft reduction best practices are followed by involving internal business partners. The ORC Specialist will assist in ensuring that all aspects of Asset Protection are in compliance with company and legal standards.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Utilize Asset Protection reporting tools to identify & investigate external cases at the direction of the ORC Manager.
Initiate, conduct and support investigations into individuals associated with ORC groups and activities. This includes high-level field & fence investigations, case development and resolution.
Protect customers, associates and company property in a multi-store environment.
Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast, friendly, and excellent customer service.
Knowledge of general physical inventory process, calculation and control, particularly as it relates to shrinkage.
Observes customers throughout the store to monitor shrink control, safety and customer service.
Responsible for working with Store Management and AP teams to identify ORC and external theft opportunities, recommend resolutions, and create action plans to eliminate those opportunities within a market using reporting tools. I.E. Store Incident Reports, ORC & Safety reporting, BOLOs from market ORC associations.
Cooperates with and responds to requests by police departments, courts and other law enforcement agencies as directed by Asset Protection management and in-house counsel.
Conduct static and mobile surveillance.
Participate and act as team lead in market blitzes as needed.
Present case files to local, state and Federal Law Enforcement agencies to include District Attorneys, with the direction of ORC Manager.
Communicates with and trains associates on Asset Protection issues.
Reports all incidents of unsafe store conditions and associate conduct to Store Director and Asset Protection management.
Responsible for performing all job duties accurately, safely and with honesty and integrity.
Represents the Company in a positive manner to the customers and the public.
Protect company assets and properties against theft, illegal entry and illegal activities.
Maintain formal and informal channels of communications through the organization.
Perform operational & compliance audits in retail stores, prepare and submit required reports for management review.
Ensure proper maintenance of Asset Protection programs & systems designed to protect Customers, Associates and Company Assets.
Execute Asset Protection anti-theft solutions and awareness programs and processes at multiple stores
Qualifications: The following are preferred:
Bachelor Degree or equivalent work experience.
Graduate of the Retail Management Certificate Program preferred.Experience Level:
3+ years of experience in Asset Protection / Loss Prevention. Skills and Experiences:
Knowledge of city, county, state statutes, particularly those laws related to but not limited to shoplifting, fraud, financial crimes, property related offenses such as vandalism, malicious mischief, etc.
Well versed in use of Social Media platforms, internet based retailers/marketplaces
Experience with operating surveillance equipment, Digital Cameras / Video Recorders, etc.
Strong knowledge of computer capabilities (word, excel, e-mail), with focus on data analytics and spreadsheets.
Must possess strong interviewing skills (ex. Certified Forensic Interviewer, Wicklander - Zulawski preferred)
Possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written as well as the ability to make effective presentations before groups.
Adept report writing skills for use in internal case files and external legal proceedings.
Possess strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively with a wide variety of people both in person and over the telephone.
Possess the ability to motivate and work with and through others to achieve desired results.
Possess the initiative to help create and nurture a world class Asset Protection environment through training programs, promotion of the department, identification of high achievers, etc.
Requires the analytical ability to handle administrative duties and mental alertness to ensure accurate, safe and thorough completion of work activities. Possess ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions.
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.
Incumbent could spend a majority of time traveling throughout the Division visiting retail units, attending hearings and arbitration, etc.
Must have own transportation and be available for overnight travel. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Division-wide travel, up to 70%.
