The Environmental, Health and Safety Senior Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of EH&S management. This position will be responsible for the design and implementation of EH&S programs, policies and procedures to create and effectively maintain an environmental, health and safety conscious culture and compliance for Cellectis US operations.

The primary functions will be monitoring and evaluating environmental, occupational safety and health concerns including physical, chemical and/or biological hazards; and making certain US operations are compliant with all applicable federal, state, local laws and regulations and EH&S requirements. Initially this position will be called upon to also coordinate construction safety at the work site with the General Contractor. This role will oversee risk assessments, safety inspections and training, incident reports investigations among other duties.



Implements and manages all EH&S programs and policies including: Safety Programs, Occupational Health, Waste Management, First Responder Program, Crisis Management Program, Environmental Permitting and Industrial Hygiene.
Provides EH&S review and oversight of detailed plan reviews, facility permitting, regulatory strategy, maintenance, operability and insurance reviews.
Forecasts and coordinates EH&S activity around equipment layouts, building designs and process improvements, being an integral part of project teams, requiring complex decision making and knowledge of other operations in the area that can be affected by the decisions.
Identifies, executes, measures, monitors and reports key EH&S metrics, requirements and infrastructure for sustainable compliance and safety while ensuring site goals contribute to company goals.
Participates actively with US Senior Leadership Team to establish site mission, annual goals and desired safety culture while undertaking supportive actions which build commitment to these values, objectives and sustained site-wide teamwork.
Gathers on-going industry knowledge and stays abreast of new developments in the industry and in governmental regulations.

Primary contact and liaison for all EH&S regulatory agencies. Oversees contract resources and outside services to support chemical, biological and wastewater management programs.
Oversees and monitors risk assessments to evaluate the proper handling of biological materials and waste and monitors compliance with laboratory safety programs, particularly as they relate to biotech hygiene and biosafety.
Oversees and recommends continuous improvement for environment and sustainability programs including but not limited to air emissions, water supply, storm water, and wastewater discharges, liquid solid hazardous waste management, biohazardous waste disposal, pollution prevention, communication right to know reporting, hazardous material storage, energy/water conservation and emergency preparedness/response.


Serves as an Emergency Response Coordinator for the facility and leads efforts and coordination of emergency services, contractors, third parties, etc.
Conducts periodic EH&S inspections to assess compliance with corporate and external regulatory requirements. Prepares and implements action plans if/as needed.
Conducts accident investigations, analyzes and interprets results, presents specific conclusions, and makes recommendations to immediately initiate corrective actions needed.
Develops EH&S training programs for US operations. Conducts annual refresher training to all employees in the area of EH&S, ergonomics and other required aspects through material development, schedule coordination, training data tracking, etc. within regulatory requirements.
Maintains current Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) catalog for onsite chemicals, reagents and materials.
Maintains OSHA compliance and provides technical guidance to management, government agencies, and regarding health-related problems and correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Other duties as assigned by management.


Bachelor's Degree required in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental or related field of study.
Professional Certifications CIH, CSP, and QEP a plus.
Minimum 10 years' EH&S experience with a minimum of 5 years in biotech or pharmaceutical environment.
Previous experience supervising EH&S personnel.
Full understanding and experience of OSHA regulations
Experience conducting job safety analyses, risk assessments and incident investigations.
Experience developing and monitoring employee safety programs, EH&S training programs and first responder plans.
Experience working with governmental regulatory officials to obtain permits and manage site inspections.
Experience in biological waste water treatment methodology, systems and operations.
Working knowledge of cGXP, ICH, FDA, EMEA, HPB a plus
Strong collaboration and ability to establish relationships, build rapport with all stakeholders, and influence at all levels of management through informed discussions and presentations.
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, exercise sound judgment and analyze/resolve problems.
Excellent verbal and written communications and presentation skills.
Intermediate proficiency with MS Office.
