Purpose To perform work of custodial, maintenance and set-up services for the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Essential Functions Work in one of the most beautiful locations UT Austin has to offer while avoiding downtown traffic. This is a chance to join a hardworking, dedicated and growing Facilities Department who provide all maintenance for the Wildflower Center buildings. Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and remove trash throughout the facility, including cleanliness of areas outside buildings _picnic areas, patios, water stations, etc._ Keep closets organized, stocked, and clean. Performs set-up and take-down of tables, chairs, and other equipment for the Wildflower Center or privately sponsored events held on-site. Secure buildings and rooms on schedule and or after cleaning. Secure campus site and boundary fence gates. Follow correct unlocking, locking, and alarm procedures. Interacts with visitors, volunteers, and staff in a professional, courteous manner. Drives golf cart to perform duties in remote locations of the property.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Marginal/Incidental functions Other related functions as assigned. Occasional schedule shifts or overtime for mission related events.

Required qualifications Graduation from high school or a GED equivalent preferred. Six months of experience in custodial maintenance work. Experience following basic work instructions. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Valid Drivers license. Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications High school graduation or GED. One year or more of experience in general custodial work. Experience doing room set-ups. Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Experience in environmental cleaning programs _green cleaning programs_. Experience using a personal computer. Supervisory experience. Good interpersonal skills. Experience with floor care equipment. Ability to speak, read and understand English. Ability to speak Spanish.

The candidate selected will be required to take and pass a background check and strength and agility test as a condition of employment.

A criminal history background check will be required for finalist(s) under consideration for this position.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
