Position Responsibilities\Requirements:Job summary:
Responsible for the configuration, implementation, and maintenance of voice, data, and/or network communications systems. Monitors communications performance using diagnostic equipment, visual checking, and status indicator methods to locate problems. Interfaces with vendors on new technology and system updates.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Handles customer requests for telecommunications support including: moves, adds, changes, repairs and inquiries
Troubleshoots major telecommunications issues
Provides design and software support for PBX, voice mail, voice networks, and video systems
Manages vendor activities and verifies expenses relating to day-to-day support requirements
Defines and updates departmental telecommunications documentation and databases
Provides customer liaison role for day-to-day support activities and/or critical telecommunications functions
Proposes technical network and equipment system solutions for customer business requirements or cost reductions
Writes business correspondence for recommendations, operations support, and customer service purposes
Conducts customer meetings and one-on-one presentations regarding applicable communications systems
Work with customers to analyze functional and technical requirements
Develop WAN / Voice Diagrams
Act as technical resource for all assigned trouble/MACD work
Act as technical escalation point for complex support issues
Other related duties assigned as needed

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience as required for the specific job level

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Communicates ideas both verbally and in written form in a clear, concise, and professional manner
Requires good working knowledge of telecommunications industry as well as voice system design and engineering
Ability to understand and apply technical concepts
Ability to analyze and solve problems using learned techniques and tools
Basic understanding of infrastructure wiring/connectivity and routing/switching environments
Mitel (Shoretel) On Premise VoIP
Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
Cisco Unity Connection (UCON)
Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express (CME)
Cisco Unity Express (CUE)
Cisco Jabber
Cisco Expressway
Cisco WebEx, WebEx meetings (Spark)
Cisco Telepresence (SX,MX,DX)
Cisco QoS configuration in a voice and video environment

Configure and design:
PRI w/ DID trunks
SIP Trunking
Analog, POTS
VLAN trunking
Troubleshoot Circuit issues (e.g., flapping, down, etc)
Infrastructure issues in a multi-site / multiple circuit scenarios
Ability to upgrade infrastructure device firmware
Ability to configure, implement, and support device failover, e.g. SRST
Requires documentation and telecommunications software administration skills
Skill in troubleshooting/diagnostic tools and software installation and maintenance
Team skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internally as well as externally
Flexibility, versatility, dependability

Mid-level professional role having broad expertise or unique knowledge. Uses professional concepts in developing resolution to critical issues and broad design matters. Works independently on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Designs systems and solutions for global corporate requirements or cost reductions. Conducts product research and reports on industry trends. Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups. Effectively communicates with all levels of technical and non-technical personnel. Ability to provide communication on issues or complex information to a wide audience based on knowledge. Participates as a member in operational planning and direction. Develops, documents and implements standards, guidelines, direction and education on process/procedures for staff. Assigned to the most highly visible, sensitive and critical systems. Typically requires a minimum of 1-3 years experience in a data/telecommunications environment.
