Job Description

Gore Medical Products has provided creative therapeutic solutions to complex medical problems for 40 years, saving and improving the quality of lives worldwide. As a leading manufacturer of vascular grafts, endovascular and interventional devices, surgical meshes for hernia repair, and sutures, we are looking for a Technical Buyer to join our team in Phoenix or Flagstaff, Arizona.

The Technical/Commercial Buyer provides advanced procurement expertise supporting new product development projects, divisional technology teams, outsourcing efforts, second sourcing efforts and product redesign efforts in alignment with sourcing category strategies. This position will also provide procurement support for printed packaging materials and services in support of commercial product manufacturing.

Responsibilities include:
Procuring R&D packaging materials, components, services and contract manufactured devices
Understanding, following and guiding new product development projects through quality system procedures for key supply chain activities within Gore’s quality management system
Understanding, following and guiding artwork changes for printed packaging through quality system procedures within Gore’s quality management system.
Developing and maintaining key supply chain data that can be integrated into Gore’s core systems through the development life-cycle
Reviewing and developing confidentiality agreements, development agreements, SOW’s and supply agreements
Participating in R&D core team activities, such as: reviewing specifications, drawings, inspection procedures, supporting change orders, updating data for suppliers & materials in Gore’s
PLM system
Facilitating communications between Gore engineering associates and suppliers to maintain good relationships and to solve complex technical and supply chain problems
Creating and driving standard and complex RFP/RFQ’s
Identifying suppliers (existing or new) that fit Gore’s project needs, developing and qualifying new sources of supply
Qualifying new packaging materials and support supplier process validation activities
Supporting supplier risk assessment activities within the projects assigned
Interfacing with new project development team and supplier to facilitate Design for Reliability, Manufacturing & Supply (DRMS)
Collaborating with category team on strategy and deployment to all areas of the business supported by the technical buying commitment
Developing negotiation strategies & leading negotiations with suppliers for printed packaging materials
Develops standard pricing and blanket order programs with selected suppliers to create efficient ordering processes for materials
Executing and monitoring supply and stocking agreements with suppliers, when applicable
Setting-up, monitoring and revising essential system planning data for printed packaging materials to ensure ERP/MRP system is effectively planning future requirements
Analyzing inventory trends, calculating stocking levels, establishing data parameters in the ERP system and re-evaluating at regular intervals for non-forecasted material demand
Creating and communicating forecasts to supplier, for select materials, based on forecasted demand in the ERP system as required by material strategy
Preparing and executing printed packaging material requirement schedules with suppliers based on MRP pegged requirements from forecasted demand to meet production requirements and inventory goals


Required Job Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree which includes a focus in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or Engineering
Minimum 5 years' of experience in supply chain
Minimum of 1 years’ experience in procurement supporting new product development for custom manufactured products
Experience utilizing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
Demonstrated project management and prioritization skills
Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Strong influencing, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills
Knowledge of contractual law for external supply, development and non-disclosure agreements with the ability to create statements of work (SOW’s)

Ability to:
Work effectively with minimal supervision and as a member of cross-functional teams
Be self-directed to consistently meet internal customer and external supplier needs on sensitive issues
Read engineering drawings and specifications

Desired Job Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration or Engineering
CPSM, C.P.M., SPSM or any other procurement certifications
Six Sigma certified
Specialized training in purchasing and supply chain management

In procurement for a regulated industry
With Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
With Oracle ERP
Knowledge of ISO13485
