The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Description
Liberty Mutual has an immediate opening for a Senior Claims Resolution Specialist as part of our USRM Small Commercial Environmental Team. The Specialist role is to investigate, evaluate and resolve Environmental General Liability and Homeowners Liability claims. Assignments may include a predetermined section of open inventory or new cases that present high exposure. Resolves coverage and liability issues by applying established procedures and practices. Provides customer service to current and former policyholders, vendors and third-party claimants.
Casualty, litigation and coverage analysis experience preferred.
Commercial experience required.
Senior Claims Resolution Specialist II- 84,101-110,800 (based on candidate location and experience)
Senior Claims Resolution Specialist III- $94,601-123,000 (based on candidate location and experience)
The salary range posted reflects various geographic remote locations. A typical salary will be between $84,101- 123,000
If the selected candidate lives within a 50 mile radius of one of our USRM office locations, then the selected candidate must be prepared to come into the office two days/month. This policy is subject to change.
Responsibilities:
- Manages processes and resolves claims assigned by the Team Manager.

Investigates coverage and liability, completes an evaluation and sets reserves taking into consideration most probable outcome and resolves claims within prescribed authority.

Communicates with policyholders/customers, witnesses, claimants, remediation experts, counsel and others to gather claim facts. Communication is generally via phone and email.

Maintains adequacy of reserve levels for both loss and expense.

Analyzes complex coverage matters and is responsible for drafting and issuing Coverage Position Letters to customers. Utilizes HO Legal Staff to consult on coverage issues as needed. Written work sample may be requested.

Tracks litigation expenses on assigned cases, makes recommendations to improve litigation expense management and continuously reviews cases ensuring we are litigating with purpose.

Negotiates settlements with attorneys, claimants, and/or co-defendants, as well as identifying cost share opportunities and negotiating those opportunities with other carriers.

May participate in the development of legal strategies in conjunction with claims/legal team. Prepares for and attends trials, hearings and conferences. Keeps management informed of developments and confers with in-house and outside counsel and management on jurisdictional issues.

Updates files and provides comprehensive reports as required, in accordance with established departmental procedures.
Qualifications-
Must have an advanced knowledge of coverage, liability, and complex claims handling procedures.

Must be knowledgeable of state and federal laws in the adjuster's jurisdiction.

A full working knowledge of claims operations and procedures is required.

Strong written and oral communication skills required as well as strong interpersonal, analytical, investigative, and negotiation skills.

The capabilities, skills and knowledge required is normally acquired through a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and at least 5-7 years of directly related experience.

Ability to obtain proper licensing as required.
