Description of Work
The Kenan-Flagler Business School, located at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is a top-20 ranked professional business school, offering a range of professional and academic degree programs, to approximately 3,000 students, including: an MBA delivered through five channels; a Master of Accounting degree; a PhD, an Undergraduate Degree in Business, and a dual degree program with Tsinghua University.

Beyond its degree programs, Kenan-Flagler Business School operates an Executive Development program to help build business skills among external clients, and the Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise, which is the outreach and research arm of the business school. Kenan- Flagler lives/operates by its core values of excellence, leadership, integrity, community and teamwork.

This is a part-time position with KF-Next initiative to perform secondary research, understand and communicate, and communicate findings in three intersecting areas:

  • Peer-reviewed Academic Research on technology in education and learning methodologies.
  • Current and future state of EdTech Industry.
  • Emerging and future technologies coming to mass markets.
This role will work with the team to communicate findings, including:

  • Working with student innovation fellows who may provide content to be edited.
  • Working with Kenan-Flagler Ph.D researchers to edit their academic writings.
  • Candidate will need to write and edit a quarterly interactive publication.
The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and collaboratively to research, write and edit. Will need to follow a production schedule that includes weekly deadlines.

This position is not a primary academic research position and will not be responsible for generating new findings in the area, but is expected to edit other researchers papers and to understand academic writings on the topics.

Education and Experience

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and 1-3 years of experience in writing and editing or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be detail-oriented with the ability to write and edit their own work as well as others.
  • Must be able to work on-site in Chapel Hill with potential for remote work.
  • Must have previous writing experience that can be shared (clips, portfolio, etc).
  • Previous experience in the technology field
  • Previous experience in the education field
  • Previous experience in business (MBA, BA)
