The NBA Media & Distribution Technology Team is looking for a hands-on, technical leader to oversee several technologies associated with the NBA’s new Assignment Desk software, scheduling platforms & digital delivery systems. The Technical Lead will lead both day-to-day tactical initiatives and projects aimed at improving the current technical platform while assisting in the visioning, development and implementation of a longer term technical strategy for these systems.
The individual who fills this role will be a significant contributor for managing and supporting the technical aspects of the digital video content supply chain; from Scheduling & Assignment Desk through to content ingest and archive. The Technical Lead will be responsible for the development of ongoing enhancements and will provide technical support for applications and solutions for scheduling platforms, Assignment Desk software, digital viewing platforms, content management workflows, digital asset management and archiving technology. Responsibilities & Leadership:
Run High Speed Media Management System related to the In-Bound Curation Process working across Engineering, IT Operations to resolve issues Coordinate with vendor support and technical services team to lead deployment and maintenance of the system
Understand and be familiar with Vendor Processes and procedures for reporting and handling deployment issues and updates
Understand and support integrations, and run vendor access to administrators from integrated system for support
Participate in troubleshooting infrastructure issues
Raise critical issues for appropriate/timely resolution as needed
Responsible for the underlying technologies and systems responsible for video content acquisition, indexing, distribution and archiving.
Work with internal business clients to prioritize software development improvements of core platform and ensure support of 24x7 systems responsible for digital asset management
Partner with internal multi-functional technical stakeholders for the following:
Digital Product Management - Teams
Content & Business Operations
Content Production – Assignment Desk
Digital Media Operations
Engineering
Information Technologies

Position Requirements:
5+ years’ experience with leading diverse technology focused teams both vendor management and indirectly.
5-10 years working within large media technology organization with focus on software development preferred.
Experience handling the technical aspects of large scale assignment desk and/or asset management systems are preferred
Expert in the latest video delivery formats and technologies supported by web, mobile and emerging platforms.
Knowledge of video asset management systems and supporting technologies, handling large media files and associated data management as well as IP video formats, delivery protocols and archiving systems is preferred
In-depth expertise driving projects and building strategy in a matrixed organization.
Execute a vision of leading change through technology and process improvement in an environment of highly aligned strategies and resources.
Provide timely, accurate and enthusiastic executive-level communications.
Experience working and supporting technology within a large media organization
Translate business workflow into actionable technical solutions bringing the Content Acquisition/Assignment desk system to life. Act as liaison with internal/external technical resources to deliver solution.
Build & Support new workflows within the Video Transcoding Environment (i.e. Vantage) specific to Virtual Content Factory
Lead Assignment Desk Rollout and ongoing customizations for teams and internal users communicating status and risk.
Run upgrades to critical supporting system as product upgrades become available (e.g. Vantage, Aspera, XYtech)
S/BA degree required
