Food Scientist

The Food Scientist will play a key role in influencing new products by evaluating the performance of Ninja and competitor products in using food science techniques. This position’s primary focus is to influence the product development process and to validate performance. The Food Scientist will develop protocols to provide meaningful, measurable and repeatable performance data that will drive the story and design.

  • Be a strong product team member that helps drive decisions based on Food Science expertise
  • Perform testing activities to evaluate food performance on competitive products, prototypes, engineering build samples, and mass production samples
  • Define testing protocols and parameters to validate units against performance claims
  • Define consumer preference in taste, texture, and flavor to help define key performance indicators and drive product decisions in technology
  • Keep detailed test data and results in an organized and clear manor as well as develop test datasheets for new protocols
  • Report positive and negative aspects of user experience
  • Suggest improvements to processes and equipment
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Highly organized and reliable, proactive self-starter
  • Ability to professionally execute projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to multi-task and handle shifting priorities
  • Comfort with standard data acquisition tools (thermocouples, etc.)
  • Interest in food performance, cooking, and trends in the food industry
  • Quality mindset – strict adherence to established protocols and repeatability of results
  • Willingness to follow directions
  • Ability and willingness to work in a lab environment including basic physical labor
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or Food Engineering
  • 0-3 years’ industry experience
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 20 lbs.
  • Proficiency with computers and MS Office tools in particular
  • Preferred: HPLC experience and basic knowledge
