The Department of Agriculture, Food and Resource Sciences, which is within the School of Agricultural and Natural Sciences at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Animal Science. This position is a 9-month, tenure-track appointment. The anticipated starting date for this position is fall 2022.
University Information: The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), an 1890 Land-Grant Institution in Maryland. The University is located in a rural setting on the Delmarva Peninsula between the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay. Major metropolitan areas from Washington, DC, Philadelphia, PA to New York City are within reach.
Salary and Rank: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be primarily engaged in teaching undergraduate courses emphasizing care and management of livestock (beef, dairy, sheep, goats, swine, horses and poultry) and some graduate courses.
Develop a grant funded research program.
Supervise graduate students.
Work with state organizations and producers in the animal industry.
Provide expertise to the management of the University’s livestock resources.
Faculty expectations also include student advisement, internship supervision, assessment,
service, scholarship, and professional development.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in animal science or closely related field.
Commitment to the use of engaging pedagogies and diverse teaching modes .
Evidence of grantsmanship and scholarly productivity including refereed publications.

Teaching experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Ability to interact productively with others in a diverse setting.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
