Adaptivestack Technologies Inc. is looking for a talented Systems Engineer to support the the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

At Adaptivestack Technologies, a Systems Engineermust be able to work with program and project leaders to define and create the architectural depictions and documents, ensuring logical flow, and address all issues. They must have experience with a variety of software programs and languages and has some experience in programming. Must be able to design and discuss system strategies for platform, applications and networks. Must be able to identify strategies for addressing requirements. Has extensive experience in taking program requirements and is able to create an architecture vision having experience in high volume and high availability networks and systems. Experience in creating and conveying to team members the architectural vision for a program or project. Is responsible for dictating design choices to software developers, including but not limited to: platforms, coding and technical levels. Experience in establishing and enforcing standards and practices. Has extensive software development experience and thorough knowledge of a variety of programming languages and logic.

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in area of specialty and at least 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education. The candidate must demonstrate expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. In addition to this effort, they are required to provide consultation on complex projects and may be considered to be the top level contributor/specialist. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

For this position, you will be supporting the VA in its efforts to provide technical management support to include configuration management, functional analysis and requirements management, Software Quality Assurance (SQA) management, architectural, software, and reference modeling plus design services, release and deployment management, and technical documentation analysis for Health Portfolio projects in various stages of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, AND a minimum of 5 years’ equivalent work experience. 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
  • 5 years experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and complex systems.
  • Modern programming languages and design techniques.
  • Extensive use of Unified Modeling Language (UML).
  • Agile principles such as Continuous Integration (CI), Test-Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Delivery (CD) and DevOps.
  • 5 years experience with large-scale enterprise environments where real-time monitoring of critical infrastructure is fundamental to operations and compliance.
  • 5 years hands-on experience using monitoring tools to identify, isolate, troubleshoot and resolve application, system and network problems.
  • Technical troubleshooting and performance tuning experience. Strong data analysis skills.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office suite required, including MS Visio.
  • Candidates must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong aptitude to learn and adapt to technology.
  • Ability to adapt well to diverse environments.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with all levels in an organization.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in dynamic team environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • HL7, FHIR EHR.
  • Massachusetts General Hospital Utility Multi-Programing System (MUMPS) and Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA).
  • Java / C# / C++ / JavaScript
  • Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server, MongoDB, MS Access
  • Linux / Unix / Windows
  • Agile certification(s) such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), SAFe Agilists (SA) or SAFe Practitioner. (SP), SAFe Advanced Scrum Masters (SASM), and SAFe Professional Consultants (SPC)
  • Veteran-focused Integration Process (VIP)
  • IBM Rational Tool Suite including Rational Team Concert (RTC), Rational DOORS Next Generation (RDNG), Rational Quality Manager (RQM).
  • Experience supporting Federal clients.
  • Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Preference will be given to those individuals where their primary residency is located in a qualified HUBZone (
