Position Summary: Assists the building operations team with maintenance; loading and unloading materials, prepping, delivering, and serving meals to clients; cleaning and preparing client rooms; general housekeeping; and assisting with other duties as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintains light general building repair and maintenance duties and provides general building operations support.
  • Provides support for department changes, including moving furniture and other items.
  • Maintains a clean working environment for staff, clients and visitors.
  • Assists with loading, unloading, and delivery of materials among The Family Place facilities.
  • Cleans and sanitizes client’s exited rooms; assists with the make ready process by removing any unwanted items from vacant rooms, etc.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment for staff, clients, and visitors with light housekeeping duties.
  • Assists shelter cook with meal preparation, service to clients, delivery, and clean up as needed.

Other Duties: Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements: High School diploma or GED and 6 months of experience working in a shelter or similar environment.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid Texas Driver’s License and clear driving record
  • Food Handler’s Certificate or the ability to obtain certificate within 30 days of hire.

Knowledge and Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of food preparation
  • Knowledge of office equipment operations.
  • Knowledge of basic maintenance duties, i.e., changing light bulbs, unclogging toilets, changing air filters, following directions to put together office chairs or small furniture.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize as needed.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle safely and adhere to all safety guidelines.
  • Ability to load and unload food, boxes, etc. from vans.
  • Ability to maintain client and agency location confidentiality.
  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm and energy.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to demonstrate skilled and accurate physical actions involving rapid movements and coordinated performance, on or with equipment, with a high degree of manual dexterity in the use of hand instruments or tools. The employee is regularly required to lift or exert force of up to 50 pounds, and occasionally required to lift or exert force of up to 75 pounds. May encounter dirty and disagreeable odors while performing housekeeping duties.

Working Conditions: Work may be performed, but is not limited to an office environment. Ability to work some weekends for backup.
