The Health Analytics Consultant is responsible for managing day-to-day reporting and visualization for UnitedHealthcare of MN, ND and SD, while providing recommendations and actionable insights through analysis of data. The individual will need to effectively articulate data and reporting results to leadership, customers and brokers, and to increase marketing reach and member engagement. The Health Analytics Consultant excels at telling a story with data; influencing leaders and external partners to adopt new ideas, products, and/or approaches. The Health Analytics Consultant assists in predicting customer needs and developing innovative solutions to meet them.

The Health Analytics Consultant is responsible for providing critical support to the Strategic Account Executive (SAE) and Member Engagement Team (MET), focusing on data analysis and trend information designed to ensure the strategic business partnership with our customers is successful. The Health Analytics Consultant will provide and analyze data, and then make recommendations to proactively position the SAE for fact-based decisions about renewals and member engagement opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities

Health plan analytics

Develop and implement effective/strategic business solutions through systematic data engineering and research
Evaluate and present information in a manner that will facilitate management's understanding of the results and impacts
Analyze, review, forecast, and trend complex data from underwriting and other internal sources.
Develop, implement, enhance, maintain health plan reporting and dashboards
Act as outward-facing, dedicated resource for assigned accounts, typically with direct client contact
Proactively gather and analyze data to position the SAE to consult with customers, including collection and analysis of a customer's plan performance
Collaborate with internal resources and SAE to prepare customer-specific consultation packages
Preparation and coordination of renewal activities including block calls, data collection, and analysis, preparation of renewal letters and stop loss vendor reporting
Collaborate with SAE to create and maintain a book of business analysis
Collaborate with Renewal Business Analysts on any Requests For Proposal and NBEA
Review of RFP responses for accuracy and coordinate all processes regarding the RFP process
Create and maintain a Customer Scorecard that aggregates customer information including trends, myuhc.com adoption and improvement opportunities, and obtain information from Field Account Manager for service components
Facilitate Strategic Customer Team meetings as warranted
Basic, structured, standard approach to work
Marketing analytics

Develop tracking, dashboards, regular reports, and analysis of key metrics related to various marketing channel efforts (e.g., microsites, direct mail, email, video, social media); deliver actionable insights and recommendations
Proactively gather and analyze data to assist the MET in segmenting, targeting, and customizing communication to customers
Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis as needed
Partner with internal resources including Marketing, IT, Member Engagement, finance, and vendors to identify business needs, measurement plans and key performance indicators
Partner with business stakeholders to develop testing and optimization plans. Manage execution of various A/B and multivariate tests. Report on results and provide recommendations

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Public Health, Health Administration or similar field, OR High School Diploma/GED with 5+ years of data analytics experience
Experience with creating meaningful charts, graphs, or other data visualizations
Knowledge of medical and pharmacy claims and benefit structure
Preferred Qualifications

Advanced Degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or similar field
Experience using Python and/or R
3+ years of experience with data analytics utilizing SQL and/or data exploration tools (such as SAS)
Experience with Tableau or other BI dash boarding tool
Hands on experience in statistical modeling and statistical analytics
Experience working within brokerage or consulting firm
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy (specifically focused on calculations, interpretation, and presentation)
Ability to work productively and proactively in a dynamic, fast paced and constantly changing environment
Analytical thinker, with ability to quickly grasp complex issues and problem solve
Strong data engineering and/or data visualization acumen
Strong organizational skills to track requests and deliverables, and meet deadlines
Adaptable to work independently and in a group setting to achieve overall departmental goals
Team player and strong ability to work with other disciplines across the company
