Part Time Billing Specialist

Growth and Learning Opportunities (GLO) is a non profit organization providing before and after school programming, summer camps and holiday break camps in San Francisco. Our mission is to "[empower] youth and families to be leaders towards equitable communities" and we are looking for an Billing Specialist to assist with this work.


The Billing Specialist is an important and strategic role at GLO, responsible for specific tasks related to our company’s billing and accounting needs. Under the supervision of the Executive Director the Billing Specialist will be responsible for maintenance and day to day task of the Accounts Receivable Department, including but not limited to: month end closing, payment posting, submitting invoices, resolving issues related to payment, and student enrollment process.

Task will include but are not limited to:

  • Posting of charges and payments.
  • Reconcile monthly closing reports and post deferred revenue.
  • Data entry into the billing system.
  • Maintains and coordinates enrollment for all sites.
  • Maintains and coordinates billing for all sites.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the billing database for organization.
  • Mail merge monthly forms from Microsoft Excel to attendance sheets.
  • Prepare and process refunds.
  • Prepare regular bank deposits.
  • Maintenance of all files.
  • Prepare mailing packets for enrollment, financial assistance, etc.
  • Answer appropriate level of questions regarding accounts receivables procedure.
  • Maintains internal systems as needed, including systems management, data entry and daily updating of communications with key contacts.
  • Assist in AR functions with daily operations and special projects..
  • Implements projects as requested. These include researching variety of subjects via the Internet and producing tracking reports.
  • Attends monthly administrative and board meetings, as requested and required.
  • Drafts and edits correspondence
  • Modifies and maintains AR Department electronic and paper filing system.

  • Must have 1 year prior experience with billing software.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have strong computer skills.
  • EXCEL experience is required.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and be comfortable answering phones.
  • Excellent organizational skills are essential and must be able to multi-task and work independently.
  • AA required BA/BS degree preferred in a related field.


Part time, non-exempt position working 20 hours per week (9:00am - 1:00pm) with partial medical benefits after 60 days.

$18-$22 per hour
